Plot hole: There are six metal bars mounted around the circumference of the water wheel's axle. In the wheel's interior, when Jack frees himself he lands on his feet, begins to run and promptly hits his head on one of those mounted axle bars, then falls out. Moments later, when Jack returns and runs in the wheel, he is shorter (way more than a foot) than all six of the mounted axle bars spinning with the water wheel, which would make that previous shot impossible, however humorous it is. Plot hole: Christopher Columbus speaks Italian while the Huns supposedly speak their native language. Shouldn't Octavius and his Romans speak Latin? (00:34:50)
Plot hole: Cutting plastic explosive and disguising it as chewing gum wouldn't hide the smell from bomb sniffing dogs.
Plot hole: Not far into the movie, Starla decides to check out the basement to see what Grant's been up to. As soon as the door is opened she reels from the stench and we discover that it's full of rotting meat and dead animals. In reality, the whole house would have smelt like an abattoir for days before hand and the stench would have permeated out into the neighbourhood. A non-airtight wooden door would not have kept that kind of smell located to the basement only.
Plot hole: At the end of the movie, when the water drains away, there would be no way for a) the amount of water to drain away that did and b) for the mammoths that came through to be completely dry. (01:16:20)
Plot hole: Contrary to the realism of developing a video game Alex should have had external files such as character models, stage maps and coding on his laptop which he could have used as evidence that JP stole his game, It would be impossible to keep all of the games files on one disc especially if he wanted to change something in the game because if you want to modify a DVD-RW you have to erase the disc data and reburn it.
Plot hole: It would have taken much longer to build the 54 acres of homes than the animals hibernated, so there's no way they couldn't have known what was going on around them.
Plot hole: After the puppies have trapped Denning and Grim in the stall, the goat tells them to go find their parents, when the puppies never told it that they were looking for their parents.
Plot hole: Spoiler Alert: Bruno gets through to the 1 million Euro question on the French version of "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire" (WWTBAM) and gets stuck on a question. He decides to call Francois as his Phone-A-Friend. However, Francois is sitting at home watching the drama unfold on TV. The basic premise of WWTBAM is that it is recorded to ensure that a friend who is called could *not* simply use the internet to research a response.
Plot hole: When Farley is preparing to rescue Simon by towing him up with the rope attached to his van, he drops his "cigarette" into his crotch, causing him to floor the gas pedal. His back wheels begin to spin. This is impossible because the vehicle is still in Park. There is even a camera shot of the "PRNDL" proving this. I guess this goof is employed by the filmmaker to increase the dramatic effect of him subsequently slamming the Dodge into drive a second later and careening through the fence. (01:07:35)
Plot hole: Buddy discovers a website, myearth.sat. The site, like Google Earth, contains satellite images of every square inch of the planet. Buddy can see his neighbor's house but not his own house. He decides to cover his house with lights so it can be "seen from space." There is absolutely no reason why the site would show every house in the world except Buddy's, except that the oversight is required in order to advance the plot.
Plot hole: In the scene before Maya rides in the barrel race, They emphasise that Brooklyn has broken her hand, thus making it necessary for Maya to ride without any prior training, yet after they have won, and they are all jumping around for joy. Brooklyn's hand is not bandaged and she would be in an enormous amount of pain waving her hand around. Also at Mayas birthday party, Brooklyn has not bandage and is waving her hand around like there is nothing wrong with it.
Plot hole: When Melvin receives the phone call from a lost Diana, he is staring at his goldfish, swimming peacefully in the bowl in his apartment. He unsuccessfully attempts to rescue Diana, then goes to the night club where he encounters an inebriated Ginger. He escorts her home, rebuffs her advances, and goes to his own apartment. The next morning, he goes to her job site, where, inexplicably, the goldfish has now taken up residence. Unless Ginger's flunky somehow broke into Mel's apartment and absconded with the fish, there is no way the fish could have gotten there on its own.
Plot hole: It's one thing to have a small amount of liquid nitrogen (about the size of a standard propane tank, by the looks of it from the Fridge scene), but where did the gallons upon gallons of it during the climactic flood scene come from?
Plot hole: Miranda forces Andy to tell Emily that she's been dropped from the Paris fashion trip. However, Emily is hit by the car before Andy delivers the bad news. Andy finally tells Emily at the hospital but there was no need to give the real reason she was replaced because Emily could not have gone to Paris with a broken leg. Even at the end of the movie, which is after Paris, Emily is hobbling around with a cast and on crutches.
Plot hole: Viola convinces her mother she is staying at her father's house for two weeks, but who covers for Viola with school administrators? As far as we see in the movie, Viola is not reported absent from either Cornwall or Illyria (a transfer would explain not being reported absent from Cornwall). Administrators or class mates at Cornwall would find it strange that she stopped showing up, since soccer training had already started. It is unlikely Viola officially transferred to Illyria, since her parents would have to sign off on that, or at least start paying her tuition to a different school. Viola could have called in sick to either Cornwall or Illyria, but this is never addressed in the movie. And if the soccer program at either school started before the official school year, it would make no sense for them to have a biology class with students not enrolled in athletic programs at Illyria.
Plot hole: The contest happens on July 16th 2005. Karen appears on a magazine cover as the successful new manager in the September 2005 issue, which is really a bit too fast considering in barely a month Bowker's wife would have had to divorce him, sell the company and reduce him as the homeless bum shown, on top of Karen actually taking over.
