Plot hole: The contest happens on July 16th 2005. Karen appears on a magazine cover as the successful new manager in the September 2005 issue, which is really a bit too fast considering in barely a month Bowker's wife would have had to divorce him, sell the company and reduce him as the homeless bum shown, on top of Karen actually taking over.
Continuity mistake: When Sylvia reads "Potholing weekly", her hand on the last page changes position between shots (finger below the first paragraph in the second shot, way deeper below in the first). (01:21:25)
Continuity mistake: After Karen rejects Pablo, we see a scene with brother and sister on the couch. When she mentions 'potholing', Jack's forkful of noodles changes between shots. (01:21:15)
Continuity mistake: Sylvia puts in her player the CD Pablo gave her. The display shines with a bright green. When she dances, the display is off. (01:14:10)
Continuity mistake: When Sylvia is teaching her brother how to play guitar without the amplifier, the position of her hands are inconsistent at times between shots - for instance after she tosses the slice of tangerine at him and he groans that he almost 'had it'. (01:13:30)
Continuity mistake: As the jaunty tunes from "Otto and his Black Forest Ghetto" sound in the air, Sylvia receives a phone call from her dad (ish). She holds the phone with the thumb and index all the way up in side view, but different placement and thumb below the screen in close-up. (01:06:50)
Continuity mistake: During the Bavarian event at the pub, Sylvia chugs down some beer from the mug. She turns towards the elder couple and exchanges a couple quick pleasantries; when Warren walks in, the level of beer in the mug suddenly drops. (01:05:55)
Continuity mistake: After another big reveal about her messed up family history, Sylvia goes to a pub and sits at the counter. Her arms are folded when seen from the front, or she's leaning with just her left when the camera is on the back. (01:05:35)
Continuity mistake: Jake stops the car right before accidentally running his dad over. It's obvious though that two different takes are edited together, as the position Tom Watt jumps from is a different one in the two shots. (00:55:35)
Continuity mistake: Outside the building after Caroline wins the head-to-head against her colleague, Sylvia says "I feel sorry for Warren." At the cut, extras appear around the group all of a sudden coming out of the doors that were closed before. (00:34:10)
Continuity mistake: Karen puts the embarrassing picture in the envelope holding it in a different way - she pulls it open with the left hand in the corner in the first and last shot, by the middle of the side closest to her in close-up. (00:31:20)
Continuity mistake: Martin just started working at the same call center her daughter is in. The nefarious Karen walks away and turns back to just dismiss his request with a clicking noise; during this cut her hand on the clipboard changes position - easy to spot due to the logo pattern. (00:30:40)
Continuity mistake: Flamenco lesson after Julie's fierce belch. Pablo says "Stretch with your fingers, make it beautiful"; The girl in brown behind the protagonist is in a part of her rotation blatantly out of continuity. (00:29:20)
Continuity mistake: Sylvia is with her coworkers at the pub the day her dad asked the loan to her boss. While Julie is chugging her beer down and everyone is staring at her in disbelief, Sylvia has her own glass on the table, suddenly in front of her lips in the close-up. (00:29:00)
Continuity mistake: The father pours champagne into the glass closest to himself, then begins pouring in a glass closer to Sylvia, with the 3 being still closely bundled together. But in the next shot, when he's still pouring, he's doing it in a glass near him, and the first one teleported next to Sylvia. (00:20:40)
Continuity mistake: When Sylvia's dad sends her brother to kick the ball against the drain pipe, the champagne changes position in his hand between shots. (00:19:35)
Revealing mistake: Throughout the scene when it is revealed that Jack has been offered a six month trial with the local team, the wall clock is stuck at the same minute and second. (00:18:30)
Continuity mistake: When Sylvia gets to the door after her first fall and picks her stuff up, the flamenco instructor is in a completely different pose at each cut. (00:18:00)
Continuity mistake: When Syvia ignominiously trips at the beginning the flamenco lesson, she stays on the floor with her hand on her thigh in the close-ups, on the floor in the intermediate wider angle. (00:17:45)
Deliberate mistake: When the police blitzes the "traditional English breakfast" joint, in the background the menu display advertises "Omlettes", and in the close-up on the owner you can read the word "Mashrooms." It's surely deliberate to show how the joint is not exactly ran by purebreed English people - although it should be noticed that there is an inconsistency with previous scenes when the board was different, and even the word "Mushrooms", handwritten, was spelt correctly.
