Continuity mistake: The image of "Che" Guevara hanging from the rear-view mirror keeps appearing and disappearing during the first part of the road trip, right before it is substituted by the toy rabbit Luisa buys at the township.
Revealing mistake: When Ricky and Bobby knock the fishbowl over while fighting, you can see it separate into two clean halves before it even falls. (00:40:05)
Continuity mistake: In the scene on the sidewalk where Bev is pretending Faye is her mom (and she's practicing to tell her mom that she's pregnant) the same people walk by several times. I don't think there was a single shot-reverse-shot sequence that had the right people walking by at the right time. You saw the same couple, for example, walk by at least four different times.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Rock is trying to destroy Tima and the factory, the side parting in his hair frequently changes sides.
Continuity mistake: In the red drawing room, Freddie Nesbitt can be seen behind his wife, Mabel, putting his coffee cup on a bureau. They cut away to a wider shot, and he is holding the cup again.
Visible crew/equipment: When Hubert punches the transvestite in the bar and she flies backwards, you can see the wires pulling her. It's hard to see but if you look at the black man in a white t-shirt and black trousers, when looking closer at the trousers you should be able to see the wire moving. (00:02:15)
Other mistake: Jack says: "Did I meet him when Bush came over?" The German subtitles read: "Ich traf ihn, als Busch vorbeikam." Busch is German for bush... (00:20:35)
Visible crew/equipment: When cousin Derrick and Lisa's mom are sitting on the couch talking, you can see the boom mike reflection swaying back and forth in the window behind the two people.
Revealing mistake: The corpse on the medical examiners table noticeably swallows during a close-up. (00:29:23)
Continuity mistake: When Chesney meets Kelly in the cafe, Kelly drinks Coke from a can. When Chesney spills the drinks, Kelly's Coke is in a glass and the can has disappeared.
Revealing mistake: When the Yamakasi and the children are trying to escape from the last house, they break the wall but the shot later, it looks like it has been cut with a chainsaw, or another precise tool.
Continuity mistake: When Enid and Rebecca first visit Seymour at the garage sale, one shot shows Rebecca covering her mouth to hide her laugh, but in the next shot her expression and stance are significantly different.
Continuity mistake: Walter takes part in a trial performance to join Erika's piano master class. When he opens the door to the concert hall his collar button is open, but when the camera angle changes and the door is seen from inside the shirt is closed. (00:28:55)
Continuity mistake: One of the prisoners is washing his face in a sink and there is a shot from under the water, where we see the man's face in a round sink. The next shot is from the cell and here we see that the sink is rectangle-shaped with only rounded corners.
Continuity mistake: When Sam and Lucy escape by bus from the custody hearing Lucy's hair changes from shot to shot. (01:02:50)
Revealing mistake: When Antonia is cutting bread in the homeless shelter kitchen she gets startled and knocks an earthen pot on the ground. However, it doesn't look very accidental as she grabs the pot and throws it down. (00:06:55)
Plot hole: When John retrieves the mail from the postman, Iris dashes outside. Less than 10 seconds after she closes the door, a car is heard, off-camera, honking a horn. Wouldn't John have found Iris so soon after that noise is heard? She doesn't seem to have enough time to allow for a search for her.
Continuity mistake: In the childhood oven scene, there is a shot of the mother peeling steamed tomatoes, the shot of the tomato she throws at Hedwig shows fresh tomatoes, then the tomato looks steamed in the oven.
Plot hole: When Margaret has to collect the $50,000, she goes around to various banks trying to get a loan on their house, which she can't get because her husband, co-owner of the house, isn't around. Why couldn't she just have taken the papers, said she was going to take them home to her husband, forged his signature, and brought them back? You can't exactly say she has either moral problems or isn't devious enough, since we've already seen her stuff a body into a dinghy, toss it into the lake, and come back to her house looking fairly normal.
Continuity mistake: While Alice is picking up glasses, she tucks a marigold in her hair. After she drops the glasses and she bends down to pick the pieces up, the flower disappears, then is back in the following shot.
