Factual error: Peter McCabe escapes the operating room partly by turning his oxygen supply into a flamethrower. 100% oxygen makes everything extremely flammable, but it cannot be lit like a flamethrower.
Factual error: When Vic is beginning to fall in love with Louisa, he stays up one night reading her novel-in-progress. However, Louisa is Spanish, and it's clear from her accent that her native language is Spanish, and writers very very rarely would deliberately choose to write in their second language when they could write in their first language - so her manuscript is almost certainly in Spanish. And it's extremely unlikely that Vic speaks Spanish: he shows no signs of speaking Spanish; his character is not that bright and not that well-educated; and even if he learned it in school he's been out of it for many years and wouldn't be able to read it at that time. Even if Louisa had chosen to have her work translated so it could be read more widely, she was in the process of writing it; translation is a long, expensive, and involved process and it wouldn't have been done while the work was still being written, as we have already learned it is. Therefore, Vic would have been unable to read Louisa's work.
Factual error: When Bill and Jason are heading up to Canada (and Lucia is following in her own car), they are driving past several high mountain peaks, and up through a winding valley. Problem is, they started in South Bend, IN and are heading towards Detroit, MI, and that area of the country is notoriously flat, other than occasional hills.
Continuity mistake: Dwayne puts on lipstick, then prepares to put a plastic bag over his victims head. The lipstick disappears just as he is putting the bag over her head.
Factual error: When Jack arrives at a roulette table to replace Matt as the dealer, the roulette wheel is stationary. In UK casinos, it is never allowed to stop spinning at any point while the table is open.
Continuity mistake: After Paulie is bought from the pawn shop by Ruby, they are out on the sidewalk talking and if you watch in the background, the same red Mustang turns the corner twice in a row.
Continuity mistake: Birdie and Justin are dancing to a song and when it ends the band announces, "We are going to take a short break and leave you with some fine tunes on the jukebox." The song "To make you feel my love" starts, but as they are dancing you can still see the band playing and someone singing.
Continuity mistake: When Sammie wakes up alone in bed, she can see a rapidly moving shadow inside the bathroom. After she sneaks outside the house around to the window, she looks in and we see Sam in the bathtub, masturbating to magazine centerfolds. The problem is that in this second shot, Sam is very far from the door and there is no shadow visible inside the bathroom. In fact, there is not even a light source on the other side of the door from him. Sammie therefore should not have seen a shadow from inside the bedroom.
Continuity mistake: When Shane first gets into Studio 54, he is told to take his shirt off. He pulls it over the top of his head. Then he walks in holding it and even though he never unbuttons it, it is somehow unbuttoned when he puts it on again.
Other mistake: In a prison scene quite early in the film, Patrick Swayze's character is seen playing the 'final move' in a chess game against the warden. As he moves his piece he says, "check mate" but if you look closely and if you have any knowledge of chess you will notice that it is not check mate at all.
Continuity mistake: The young son of the Chinese owner of the violin is near-sighted and his glasses have concave lenses. When he attends the auction as an adult he is far-sighted with incredibly thick convex lenses.
Factual error: When the Spanish sink the topsail schooner bringing supplies to Gibraltar, Captain Foster swims to a floating fighting top. The schooner actually had nothing more elaborate than a crosstrees on both masts.
Plot hole: Batman finds at Belson's home a handwritten list of substances needed for a transplant. Why would Belson, a medical authority in the field that knows those things thoroughly, even write a list down? If it's for Freeze to procure him the material, why would it be at his house and not with him, and when did he even have time to be at home to do that, since he has been kidnapped by Freeze when he was driving on the outskirts of Gotham and taken to the oil rig? If he had time to go home, he at least would have changed clothes, he's still in the tuxedo he wore when he was kidnapped the night before.
Continuity mistake: Near the end of the film, the writer seeks out one of the locals, and finds him in a corn field digging up pot plants that marijuana growers are trying to grow in his corn field. There is only one problem: It is supposed to be Spring, but the corn is all brown, thus it really is fall or early winter.
Factual error: In the big professional Latin dance championship scene at the end of the movie, the competitors perform four dances: the samba, the cha-cha, the paso doble, and the rumba. In reality, however, a professional Latin dance championship, regardless of where you go, is almost always a 5-dance event: a cha-cha, a samba, a rumba, a paso doble, and a jive. Rumor has it that a jive sequence was originally supposed to be part of the competition scene but was cut from the final version of the film for unknown reasons.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Paul and little Mole first meet Shadrach, they are playing marbles. In the shot where Paul looks over his shoulder to see Shadrach, a lot more marbles appear on the ground than there was in the previous shot, and the arrangement of the marbles is completely different. When the camera goes to a close-up of Shadrach and back to the boys, the marbles once again change their positions. (00:17:50)
Continuity mistake: When the girl in the orange slides over the stones and then falls to the ground tumbling over and over, you can see that her arms are completely protected by black arm protectors, yet when she comes to a complete stop, they are now missing.
Continuity mistake: Rosina is meeting for tea the fish trader that she is supposed to marry. Her mother hands her the plate with cake, she takes it in the first shot, but she is taking it again in the following. (00:10:15)
Other mistake: Christopher Reeve's nurse has just installed the camera, and they are showing it to Daryl Hannah. During a close-up of Jason Kemp's camera displayed by a monitor, she notices that the woman victim of domestic abuse is wearing too much make-up for that time of the morning, no doubt to hide the results of the beating she took. Jason does not move the camera at that point, but a minute later he (it actually looks like she is the one doing it, but there's an engine buzz so it should be Jason operating it, not her turning it by hand) rotates it to the right. The visual in the monitor is unchanged from earlier even if the camera moved. (00:33:30 - 00:34:30)
Other mistake: During the intro, the Poet (voiced by the author of the original book, Luis SepĂșlveda) is frying a couple of eggs. When he does his dramatic rendition though, he moves the frying pan in ways that would certainly spill its content. (00:01:20)
