Continuity mistake: The young son of the Chinese owner of the violin is near-sighted and his glasses have concave lenses. When he attends the auction as an adult he is far-sighted with incredibly thick convex lenses.
Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the film, when the wife of the violin builder dies, he sits with her dead body while she is covered in bed. Her arms are uncovered in one scene, and under the covers in the next.
Factual error: Mardi (Tuesday), le 17 Fevrier 1997 is displayed on the museum wall with the Tresors de China... that date is incorrect as it should have been lundi (Monday)... February 17, 1997 was the 8th Monday of that year. It was also the 48th day and 2nd month of 1997 in the Georgian calendar. The next time you can reuse 1997 calendar will be in 2025. Both calendars will be exactly the same. Feb 17, 1997.

Trivia: When the servant is reading the Italian woman's cards, look at the justice card. It pictures a person in front of a red flag with a yellow star, a lot like the Chinese flag. In the next scene, (after the children's performance), the Chinese woman is standing at her podium in front of a Chinese flag; red with yellow stars.
