Corrected entry: In the scene when they go for the drug deal with Hector, Manolo and Chi Chi decide to go in. They both load machine guns and head to the motel. Manolo breaks in with his machine gun, and Chi Chi comes in about a minute later with a different gun (a revolver).
Corrected entry: At the very end, when Bronson confronts the naked killer in the street, Bronson points out there are three more dead girls. There are actually four more dead girls. The hooker, and the three in the nursing dormitory. And he did see all four girls. (01:38:35)
Correction: The hooker wasn't dead. He doped her to knock her out.
Corrected entry: The aircraft used in the movie could not have made the journey in real life for several reasons, the most important of which is that they would have find somewhere to land and refuel about every 150 miles (every 2 hours of flying time at a speed of 75 mph).
Correction: The Stampe biplanes used in the film had a maximum speed of 188 kmh (116 mph) and a range of 420 kilometres (260 miles).
Corrected entry: Joel lives in Illinois, when Lana wants to make love on a "real" train they end up on a subway. there is no subway in Illinois.
Correction: Incorrect. Chicago Transit Authority runs the Chicago El (as in elevated train system) however, according to Wikipedia 12.1 miles of this system indeed runs underground.
Corrected entry: In two scenes, at the pistol range to get used to his Automag pistol and in the hotel room when Harry has lost his model 29, S&W and is getting his Automag pistol. In both scenes, Harry picks up the Automag pistol, then a magazine and pushes the magazine into the pistol butt. Both times the magazine has no cartridges in it. You can see the spring through the witness slot on the side of the magazine. The pistol won't fire if there are no cartridges in the magazine.
Correction: Both times it's very clear both magazines have cartridges in them. The first time you do see some of the spring near the bottom, but this is because the magazine isn't fully loaded. In one shot when he's loading the magazine into the gun, you can even see the cartridge at the top.
Corrected entry: It is impossible for the middle child, Teddy, to have been Emma and Flap's son. Teddy has big brown eyes. Both parent's have blue eyes. It's genetically impossible for two blue eyed parents to produce a brown eyed child. As far as I'm aware, that's because the brown gene is dominant, so in order to have blue eyes, both genes/chromosomes (long time since biology lessons...) have to be "blue", meaning there are no brown genes to be passed on.
Correction: Eye colour is not a mendelian trait and so is not simply determined by one gene on a chromosome (blood type is, though). Rather, it is a polygenic trait and is controlled by multiple genes on the chromosome. While dominance and recessive plays a part in eye colour determination (or in height or hair colour), blue-eyed parents can produce a brown-eyed child or tall parents a short child or brown-haired parents a blonde child.
Corrected entry: During 'Christmas in Heaven' when the girls go into the air, you can see wires holding them.
Correction: It is a stage presentation put on as a show for the 'guests' in heaven, the actresses are supposed to be on wires. No mistake.
Corrected entry: After Stroker's engine blows and he spins off the track, he says to Lugs through his headset, "About your word, it ain't worth shit." Right after he says that, you can hear a crew member laughing in the background.
Correction: Or more likely it is one of Strokers pit crew laughing at the comment. Try listening to real race radios sometime and you will be amazed at what you hear.
Corrected entry: All eight members of the Cleary family speak with different accents.
Correction: Paddy is from Ireland so he would have a different accent from the rest of the family. Fee is from Australia and Frank is her son, not Paddy's, so it makes sense that they wouldn't sound alike. The rest of the children could just have hybrids of both Fee and Paddy's accents, with varying degree from either parent.
Corrected entry: When the air burst explodes over Kansas City, the Doc's and everyone else's cars quit running. Current data suggests that modern cars would most likely not be permanently affected by an EMP, and certainly the '69 Nova visible to the left, with its old points and condenser ignition would not be affected, although, perhaps the transistorized radio would be toast.
Correction: This movie is thirty years old at the time of the mistake submission. The movie producers and writers wrote the screenplay with what was considered common knowledge of the time. Since in the last thirty years further testing has shown an EMP will not affect cars the way it's depicted in the movie, it's not a mistake in the movie, as they can only depict what they knew at the time. This is like saying movies and cartoons from the 1960s which show flying cars set in the present day are all wrong, because as yet, flying cars aren't common.
Corrected entry: Although the movies takes place in the late 50's, Eddie's Strat has a nice, shiny nylon strap. My dad was a professional bass player back then and he says that straps then were made from leather.
Correction: Eddie and the Cruisers had flashbacks to 1963, not 1950s.
Corrected entry: In the beginning of the movie, the main character is flying through the Canadian wilderness on his way to a remote spot where he can study the habits of wolves. But along the way, you can see in the background that the supposedly remote, dense forest has long vertical strips of land that are devoid of trees. These bare areas are ski slopes, which indicates that filming was done in populated areas.
Correction: The vertical slopes in the background are not caused by man-ski areas but by avalanches, very common in steep mountains with heavy snowfall. Calling the bare areas ski slopes is absurd.
Corrected entry: The gremlin can survive the thin and cold air, but how can it survive being blown off the wing? Shouldn't it have left footprints if it was latching itself on with each step?
Correction: Ahh, but is the gremlin really there at all? In either case, imaginary or magical, no footprints are required.
Corrected entry: When the police bash down Dr. Necessiter's door with the battering ram they borrowed from a neighbour, they carry on through the whole Condo and wind up going through the wall and falling into the pool. The police then go back up to the stairs to the Dr. Necessiter's place and the door is intact.
Correction: Yes, the butler replaces doors and walls everytime they break. He replaced the door before they got back. It's part of the paper-thin walls joke.
Corrected entry: When Sam Shepard is dropped from the B-29 mothership he hits four switches to fire the rocket engines that are all right next to each other. The real X-1 had the switches for each rocket engine located far more apart from each other making it impossible to throw them all at once.
Correction: http://www.dfrc.nasa.gov/Gallery/Photo/X-1/Medium/E49-00010.jpg - The four switches in the lower left (2 are hidden) are the ones in question. It looks like they got it right.
Corrected entry: Why would any coach who isn't a moron call for a handoff play when all the team had to do was down the ball to end the game?
Correction: Regarding taking a knee, you're partly correct. Considering the ball was on the 1 yard line, taking a knee would mean taking a knee in the endzone - a safety. So, the coach really should have just taken a safety.
Corrected entry: It is rumored that the body in the body bag was Kevin Costner. He was mearly an extra, which was uncredited.
Correction: It's not a rumour and Costner wasn't an extra - his character (Alex) had a considerable speaking role, all shown in flashback. These flashbacks made the film three and a half hours long, so director Lawrence Kasdan cut the lot.
Corrected entry: In the first classroom scene, O'Brien could not read what was written on the blackboard. In a later scene he has no trouble reading aloud the work assignments from a clipboard.
Correction: He can actually read. He was faking not being able to read so he would fit in with the other illiterate misfits. In an environment like that, you do your best to blend in.
Corrected entry: They mention a French town for the gas attack in WW 1 but the town (Ieper) is in Belgium.
Correction: In the movie it talks about the French being gassed...the town is in Belgium but it is named Ypres.
Correction: I just watched the scene and Chi Chi did place a revolver in his vest as he and Manny was getting out of the car.
