Corrected entry: In the beginning of the movie, the main character is flying through the Canadian wilderness on his way to a remote spot where he can study the habits of wolves. But along the way, you can see in the background that the supposedly remote, dense forest has long vertical strips of land that are devoid of trees. These bare areas are ski slopes, which indicates that filming was done in populated areas.

Rosie: We're all of us prospectors up here, eh, Tyler? Scratchin' for that... that one crack in the ground. Never have to scratch again. I'll let you in on a little secret, Tyler: the gold's not in the ground. The gold's not anywhere up here. The real gold is south of 60 - sittin' in livin' rooms, stuck facin' the boob tube, bored to death. Bored to death, Tyler.

Correction: The vertical slopes in the background are not caused by man-ski areas but by avalanches, very common in steep mountains with heavy snowfall. Calling the bare areas ski slopes is absurd.
