Chicago P.D. picture

Chin Check - S1-E3

Factual error: The cops raid a house and find some rifle ammunition. The female cop says "cop killers." A few seconds later three cops are looking at the bullet and a box used to store it, it appears to be a 5.56x45mm round used in the AR-15 style rifles. All high powered rifle ammunition, doesn't matter if its bullet is fmj or armor piercing will go through soft armor which is what all police officers wear. Such ammo is available to civilians in every store. All rifle ammo could be considered "cop killer." (00:03:50 - 00:04:56)

Episode #1.7 - S1-E7

Factual error: When Marie is talking with her therapist, she talks about having just gone to see Zombieland. Given that the scene takes place in 2008 and Zombieland wasn't released in the US until October 2009, this simply is not possible.

Suggested correction: The series starts in 2008, but it's 3 years later. At the beginning, RoseMarie says Curtis was born February 3, 1981 and is 30 years old.

Bishop73

The therapy scenes are in 2008. It's only when the photographs of Marie are discovered that we see Marie 3 years later, in episode 8.

Pilot - S1-E1

Factual error: When Riggs and Murtaugh go to investigate the scene where the body of Ramon Alvarez is discovered Scorsese states that Alvarez's dog tags say "SEAL" on them. His dog tags would not say that he is a SEAL on them. The information listed on dog tags is as follows: Name, Social Security Number, Blood Type, Service Branch, and Religious Preference. There is no way to tell what a given service member's MOS (job) from his or her dog tags. (00:14:00)

Suggested correction: Scorsese never mentions the dog tags. Riggs just happens to be looking at them while Scorsese is giving them the information they've already gathered about Alvarez, including the time he served from.

Show generally

Factual error: LaSalle's 2015 pickup truck is shown with a green Louisiana license plate. Those plates were only distributed in 2011 and 2012 in celebration of Louisiana's Statehood bicentennial. Furthermore, pick-up trucks in Louisiana are always provided with basic seven digit plates with only the state name, the digits, and the state motto Sportsman's Paradise. The vehicle owner could request a vanity plate with a specific order of digits, or a sport's design, but again, the state hood could not be one.

Magic City picture

Show generally

Factual error: Noticed this watching season 2, and I assume it was also the case in season 1. The entrance of the Miramar Playa has flags from various countries flying. One of them is the Canadian flag with the maple leaf. Wrong flag. In that period the Canadian flag was the "Red Ensign", or "Dominion Flag." The maple leaf flag wasn't introduced until 1965.

Triumvirate of Terror! - S3-E8

Factual error: During the final fight in Lex's lair, Joker gives Batman a good smack with his large hammer. As is common in this show, when a good hit is delivered, a freeze frame is show with the figures moving in slow motion with a stylized colorful backdrop to add to the drama dynamics. But as Joker delivers this hit and this stylized shot is shown, the show cuts to some inmates in a prison cell watching the fight on TV. The same stylized shot is shown on their TV, where it would be show like that there, only to us. They would have just seen Joker hit Batman with the hammer and him fly off in real time with no stylized back drop or slow mo. (00:20:00)

Season 1 generally

Factual error: Chief Superintendent Hilton wears the ribbons of the General Service Medal (awarded for military service in a combat zone, most commonly in Northern Ireland) and the Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (awarded for twenty years' service), but not the Golden Jubilee Medal (awarded to all officers with five years' service in 2002), which he would also have. When he reappears in Series 4, he is wearing the Golden Jubilee Medal, Diamond Jubilee Medal (awarded in 2012) and Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, which would all be correct, but no longer has the General Service Medal.

Hit and Run - S4-E8

Factual error: Tim says, "At approximately 1057 hours" for the scene, but in the scene, it's shown the time is 10:14. The time should have been said, "0957 hours" for when the suspect attacked Nolan and Harper. (00:13:00 - 00:13:22)

Varsity Blues - S6-E2

Factual error: The FBI agents are searching a house with their weapons drawn. Each agent is going through the house with their fingers on the trigger. At one point, one agent has her finger on the trigger while her partner is in front of her as they go down some stairs. The correct officer safety practice is to have your trigger finger off the trigger and along the slide of the weapon until you are engaging a suspect and need to fire your weapon. Ratched picture

Show generally

Factual error: The show, which is set in California in 1947, mentions the gas chamber, lethal injection and the electric chair as methods of execution in the state. Two murderers are sentenced to death by lethal injection and one is depicted being instead executed in the electric chair, which the governor states has been brought out of retirement for the occasion. In fact, California adopted the gas chamber as its sole method of execution in 1937 (having previously used hanging). Lethal injection was not used in the United States at all until 1982 and not adopted in California until 1993 (becoming the prime method in 1996). California has never used the electric chair.
