Continuity mistake: When Mae is at the sink washing dishes and, behind her, Braddock is teaching his kids how to box, Mae turns around and emotionally yells, "No boxing in the house!", the strap on the apron she is wearing is twisted. They cut away and in the next shot the strap is no longer twisted.
Continuity mistake: The Black Stallion was played by a horse with white markings; it's occasionally possible to see them under the black dye, especially during the desert scenes.
Continuity mistake: In the scene when Jerry arrives at the top star's house to make sure he's still staying with him, he arrives in an Eagle Vision car, but later leaves in a Pontiac Grand Prix.
Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie, when the Mystery team are consoling each other at the end of the game, the keeper is in the net, after he had been pulled and then stayed off when Mystery tried to score the equaliser.
Continuity mistake: After the two boys leave the team at the beginning of the film, Gene Hackman has the boys doing a passing drill with six guys. The problem is that there were only five guys on the team. It even shows a seventh player on the sidelines.
Continuity mistake: Near the start, when the kid is holding the card of Babe Ruth in his hand, the position of his fingers on the card changes between shots.
Continuity mistake: When Doug and Kate are doing the short programme at the Nationals and they perform the side-by-side double axels, when Kate spins, the sole of her boot is wooden. When she lands the spin, it is black plastic.
Continuity mistake: When you see Mason sitting in his corner and he leans over to look at Rocky and then you see Rocky's calf flex. Dixon is not wearing boxing gloves, he only has tape on his hands.
Continuity mistake: When Apollo Creed is approaching the ring for the rematch at the end of the film, his robe starts off done-up, next shot shows it undone and the towel around his neck loose, and then in the last shot it's back to being neat again with the robe done up. Even when he enters the ring it's all neat and tidy. (01:32:40)
Continuity mistake: The fan who came out onto the ice and draped a flag around Jim Craig's shoulders (a cameo by the film's director, by the way) put it on upside-down. The camera cuts away, then cuts back, and it's suddenly right-side up.
Continuity mistake: In Maggie's first fight (when Frankie isn't her manager), she comes off after the first round and takes her mouthpiece out. After talking to the manager, she gets back up to enter the ring without putting it back in, but when the bell rings she has it in again.
Continuity mistake: During the press conference at the U.S. Open where Roy begins to list the companies who are sponsoring him, he says that one of them is "Woody's Smokehouse" when the patch on his jacket says "Wally's Smokehouse".
Continuity mistake: In the scene when Nick Nolte is arguing in the parking lot, he unlocks his car door, but his window is rolled down in the same scene.
Continuity mistake: When former Cassius Clay is introduced to Elijia Mohammed to be given the new name - Mohammed Ali - we first can see Elijia Mohammed sitting on a sofa, with a table on his right, and a Revox Tape Recorder upon the table. Next scene, the Revox disappears.
Continuity mistake: Brubaker slides home head first. When he is coming to the dugout, he gives his team mates high-fives. It can be clearly seen that the front of his uniform is clean and spotless.
Continuity mistake: When Smalls tries to throw the ball for the first time, everyone laughs at him and falls down. When it shows the guys from Smalls' view, it shows Yeah-Yeah falling down. Then when Smalls is running away, it shows Yeah-Yeah falling again.
Continuity mistake: When Monica gets out of her car after her first day at the bank, she stumbles over her shoes. She takes them off, talks to Q for awhile, and then heads into the house. Watch as she rounds the corner to the house (right when she gets to the hedges, watch carefully because she walks around the hedges fast) you can clearly see that she does in fact have her shoes on, without her putting them back on. She didn't even bend down like she should if she were putting them back on.
Continuity mistake: When Annie and Ray are laying in the newly completed ball field, and Annie is drinking a glass of wine, it is sunset. The sun has gone down and the sky is just the faintest of pink on the horizon, the rest of the sky is a strong blue tone. Yet, when the camera cuts to a long shot, same angle of Ray and Annie, the horizon is now a brilliant red-orange taking up nearly a third of the sky. (00:16:20)
Continuity mistake: Phil sustains injuries to his face more than once in the movie. Every time the injuries disappear by the next scene. In one case the injury switches from the right side of his face to the left side between shots in the same scene.
Continuity mistake: Peter states that his first match is at 3 PM, but when he goes out onto the court to begin the match we hear him thinking that it is 2 PM.
