Revealing mistake: Just before the Roman soldiers pressed Simon of Cyrene to help Jesus carry the cross, Jesus has fallen and we see that the bruised and swollen-shut eye is now his left. The shot changes and when it comes back to Jesus his right eye is swollen shut again. The film must have been flipped.
Revealing mistake: The professor has a blowout, but all four tires on the car are fine. (02:04:30)
Revealing mistake: After Manco beats up Cavanaugh and places Cavanaugh's back up against the bar, while Manco faces him, three of Cavanaugh's henchmen appear at the entrance of the bar demanding that Cavanaugh be released. Manco turns around and kills all of them with his pistol, while Cavanaugh falls to the floor crawling toward his gun. Manco is walking toward the entrance of the saloon with his back to Cavanaugh. Manco draws his gun and kills Cavanaugh without looking at him. If you look closely at the tip end of the pistol, you can see that the only thing that Manco would have killed was the saloon floor. (00:17:00)
Revealing mistake: When Natalie Portman's character is about to be executed, if you look at the wall behind the executioner, you can see a modern metal drainpipe.
Revealing mistake: The oil lamp carried by Mary when she first finds Colin has a flame that never flickers, and is likely an electric lamp.
Revealing mistake: After the first race, when Tej walks over to Brian with a bunch of people, there is a girl in a orange and black top, and as she walks towards Brian, she is looking directly at the place where the camera is supposed to be and backs away, so the camera can pull in for the shot. (00:13:10)
Revealing mistake: In many scenes, particularly the dance scene in the bar, Michael's wings disappear and/or reappear. If you look closely throughout the movie, his wings are often completely gone.
Revealing mistake: The cannons shown are firing blank charges, which produce no recoil. Recoil has been simulated by towing the guns backwards when they fire. The problem is, there is always a distinct delay between the discharge and the "recoil." The cannon also seem to largely fire explosive shells. At no point do we actually see a cannon ball rolling or bouncing along the ground or into any group of soldiers.
Revealing mistake: In the beginning, there is a scene where Sen. Shaw is watching Raymond make a speech on a TV screen. It was obviously put in in post-production because the aide immediately next to the screen is nodding and clapping in agreement at inappropiate times.
Revealing mistake: Any time when the two girls are in hell's corridors and running around, you see these corridors as stone walls, yet whenever they back up against one of these walls, you can clearly see they are merely rubber sheeting overlayed on a framework as the rubber sheeting bends and contracts very clearly.
Revealing mistake: There is a large painted hanging cloth backdrop of clouds in the mountain scenes near the end of the film. Vertical streaks can be seen in the backdrop that are the pleats in the fabric. These streaks really stand out in the restored versions of the film.
Revealing mistake: About 30 seconds into the movie, when the camera is panning down the flight status board, the letters are flipping through to form the correct words. However, the board is digitally animated, and some of the sequences of letters scrolling (such as one square going from L to M to N) loop without making any sense, like in the line above the yellow "The /Terminal" (U, V, W, U, V, W, U, V, W.). (00:00:30)
Revealing mistake: After Dante's Peak explodes for the final time, the pyroclastic cloud rolls down the mountain toward the town. Harry shouts "Don't look back, kids, don't look back." and then we are shown a wide shot of the truck zooming down the ash-choked streets. Unfortunately, it's painfully obvious that this is either a miniature or CGI shot, because the truck isn't leaving any tracks behind it or trailing any clouds of ash despite its high speed. (01:28:19)
Revealing mistake: In the scene when Christine smashed repeatedly into the silver Camaro at the gas station, there is no motor in the Camaro. The hood of the Camaro gets knocked off the hinges and is twisted sideways on the car. As Christine is in reverse and dragging the Camaro along you can see down through the hood that the engine compartment is empty. Minus a transmission also, I believe. (01:15:30)
Revealing mistake: When the Charger hits the red truck, the truck turns over with the assistance of a 'pipe cannon' (note the sudden eruption of white smoke from under the truck). This device is like a large gun, pointed down that fires a cylindrical wooden 'bullet' at the ground, and the pressure behind it forces one side of the truck upward, causing the flip. Evidence of its use is seen when the passing cop drives away and in the street is a perfectly circular 'dent' in the asphalt with a burn mark surrounding it. (01:12:50 - 01:16:20)
Suggested correction: A cannon roll uses a large device, usually a metal pipe that is pointed down, but it does not fire a "bullet" wooden or otherwise. It is just the force of the explosive charge focused downwards that causes the cars to roll over.
A cannon roll shoots out a wooden log to flip a vehicle, it's not just shooting out air.
This is just nonsense, a wooden log would be too dangerous to use, would be highly conspicuous on screen, and would take up room inside a vehicle.
Then you don't know how they use to do car stunts. It does take up room, but even modern methods do. Cars have to be modified heavily and of course it's dangerous, they're flipping a car with a driver inside. Film makers do everything they can to avoid the stunt car from being detected (just the same way they do everything that can to avoid a dummy being detected). Here's a article that talks about car stunts before the pneumatic flipper. Bishop73 is right. For example, from Raiders of the Lost Ark: https://www.moviemistakes.com/picture6238.
Revealing mistake: At the end of the movie, where Sgt. Eversman talks to the dead Corporal Jamie Smith about Blackburn, he says he's gonna talk to Smith's parents when he gets home. When Eversman places his hand on the chest of Smith, you can see his eyelids move. (02:14:08)
Revealing mistake: When McKay and Ramon are riding into Blanco Canyon to rescue Julie, you can see a diesel loading shovel with its bucket raised in the bottom of the frame of one of the scenic shots. Presumably the scene was shot in a quarry and they didn't get all the equipment out.
Revealing mistake: In one scene just before the attack on a big Hunter the young captain (Jürgen Prochnow) is sitting with his charts. Beside him he has got a glass of beer standing. The sub lurches heavily right and left in the hard weather, but the surface of the liquid stays the same.
Revealing mistake: When the team captain gets in the car accident, if you look at the damaged car right after it is hit by the truck you can clearly see the stunt driver wearing a black motorcycle helmet.
Revealing mistake: In the opening scene the camera pulls back from a bedside locker to an over the shoulder shot of Kathleen Turner doing her make up in the mirror. Close inspection shows that the shoulder in the foreground is actually that of a double who doesn't quite match Turner's movements.
