Answer: Ropes and a winch.
Question: Why was Henry put on a barge instead of being taken to the works?
Answer: He was in the water.
Question: How did they get the broken down train at the scene of the crash without any calls?
Answer: Breakdown trains help the engines back on track.
Question: Where does Rusty go to be repaired, as he is the only narrow gauge diesel? Does the diesel works have narrow gauge tracks?
Answer: The diesel works don't have narrow gauge tracks.
Answer: He probably gets repaired at Crovan's Gate Works.
Question: It is explained Peter Sam's funnel was damaged when he crashed. How did the crash damage his funnel?
Answer: A truck hit it.
Answer: It's possible he banged his funnel on something during the accident.
Answer: Because some flying slate smashed into the funnel, damaging it.
A Better View for Gordon - S5-E3
Question: Why did Gordon need help to get out of the wall? Couldn't he have just chuffed out?
Answer: Well for one, his wheels were damaged, and two, if he did try to chuff out of the wall he would still need to perfectly a line his wheels on the track, which is impossible.
Answer: His wheels were destroyed.
Answer: Because he was afraid he was going to fall.
Question: Most of the characters on this show are male. Why is that?
Answer: Female characters in literature, movies, television, etc. are commonly and historically less prevalent than male ones. It's an inherit gender bias that continues to exist within male-dominated industries. This same bias exists against characters of color and other orientations.
It's also a really old show that would've been fairly male run.
Rusty and the Boulder - S5-E26
Question: Why does Rusty switch between his large-scale model and his small-scale model throughout the episode?
Answer: Because in that episode, they had to use his small scale model to interact with Thomas and Percy.
Answer: Butch the breakdown truck must have pulled Gordon's tender all the way up the rails so the breakdown train can reach it and also Butch helped to get Gordon close to the winch.
