Factual error: The Turkish character "Kemal Pamuk" is given the surname "Pamuk." However, surnames weren't used in Turkey till mid-thirties. Yes, Pamuk is a real Turkish surname but no Turk would be using surnames in 1912.

Factual error: William plays a bit of music on the piano - the tune is called "After You've Gone", and it was written in 1918. This episode is set in 1913.
Episode #1.7 - S1-E7
Factual error: Mrs. Patmore has cataract surgery, which corrects her vision. Cataract surgery was performed in those days, but intraocular lenses did not exist until 1949, so the surgery simply removed the lens of the eye without replacement, leaving the patient with unfocused vision. As a result, the person had to wear thick "coke bottle" glasses to see.
Answer: Yes, because at the time it was not sure if it would continue and since it was short it could be seen as a miniseries. it also depends on where the producers decide to submit it. However since it continues on it is no longer a miniseries but a full series and thus cannot be submitted in the miniseries category anymore.
