Plot hole: Laura successfully knocks out both bad guys, steals their van and crashes through the warehouse doors. The van doesn't stall, but inexplicably, she stops it, gets out and runs away on foot, even though the baddies are coming to and coming after her. Not the option you'd expect a kidnap victim to choose: most people would floor it and keep on driving. (00:23:40)
Continuity mistake: Steele props up the deceased Kalil and puts a cigarette in the dead man's hand. When the camera angle reverses, the cigarette moves to a different position: first it's between fingers two and three, then it's between three and four. (00:25:45)
Continuity mistake: The windshield of Morey's car shatters when they storm Considine's gate. The glass is spidered and sagging, but all there - until a few shots later, when suddenly more than two-thirds of the windshield is missing altogether. No one had time to knock the glass out. Steele Trap - S1-E10
Continuity mistake: When Steele and Randi begin to dance, she puts one hand on his shoulder and he is holding her other hand by his waist. When the shot changes, both of her arms are now around Steele's neck. There was no time for her to change positions.
Continuity mistake: Laura grabs her day planner and closes it. She then clips a pen to the top, stuffs her pocketbook under her left arm and begins to walk out. As she passes Murphy, she flicks the planner at him with her right hand. The pen goes flying out and a moment later, a woman's voice sounds in surprise, as if she just got hit with the pen. The pen flip may be deliberate, but it doesn't seem like it, as Murphy doesn't react at all. Also, as Laura continues to walk, she puts the planner, still in her right hand, over her head as Steele chases after her, calling her name. Cut to the next shot from the front; Steele is still calling her name, but now the planner is in Laura's left hand and by her side and her pocketbook is now under her right arm. (00:30:10)
In the Steele of the Night - S1-E9
Continuity mistake: During the "Best Murder" game, Laura drains her brandy glass. A few shots later, without benefit of refill, her glass has regained at least two "fingers" of brandy again. (00:11:30)
Factual error: Jeweler Albert Harrad calls Laura from his desk phone, but only punches six buttons before getting hold of her office. All U.S. phone numbers have seven digits: six wouldn't have connected him to anything. (00:37:30)
Steele Trap - S1-E10
Factual error: Laura deduces that Ambrose's TV message, which suddenly came on in the dining room, wasn't live but a recording. She says that the VCR's timer had been set to begin playing the message during the guest dinner. But with a standard, unmodified VCR, which this is, that would be impossible. VCR timers work only to record something - not to play it back. (00:23:10)
