Other mistake: After Cable shoots his exploding plasma blast at the table that Gyrich, Trask, Hodge and the Leader are sitting at, the former three all evacuate the area while the Leader is still shown to be sitting at the table only a moment before it explodes, but he does not suffer any ill effects from the concussive blast or wooden shrapnel. Other mistake: When Storm sends the Genoshan prison guard flying into the Blob, he knocks the Blob over. The Blob's powers prevent him from being moved, hence why he is sometimes called the Immovable Blob. Other episodes demonstrated his ability to stand his ground against force, such as being punched by Rogue or being blasted by Cyclops' optical beam.
Answer: Chris Potter, the original Gambit voice actor, did indeed quit the role in the 4th season. His last episode was The Phalanx Covenant Part 1 so it seems reasonable that Fox would limit the use of the character even though it was recast. It doesn't appear that Potter left the role due to animosity, he stated in an interview that he wished to play Gambit in the first live action X-Men film.
