Continuity mistake: While Darnell's farther has his back to Earl, Earl tries to jump him; Darnell's father hits Earl, and Earl falls to the floor. When Earl gets up, take notice that Earl has a cut on his lower lip; the cut goes from a vague light red to a dark red in several quick shots.
Reading Is a Fundamental Case - S4-E12
Continuity mistake: In episode 11, Earl's list item was to give back the blue door, but in this episode he still has the door.
Suggested correction: That's because the episode was aired out of order. This episode was the 9th one produced (production code 4ALJ09), but aired in between the 12th and 13th episodes produced.
Continuity mistake: Near the beginning, when Joy sees the IQ game, the two poles are close together and there is nothing directly beside it. But when she gets close and the camera changes angles the poles are now separated and a small gold toy is sitting beside it. Then when she leans down next to it the poles are still separated, but the toy is gone. (00:00:40)
Audio problem: In the shot where Randy throws the glass of beer at the wall behind him in the Crab Shack, his mother's mouth is not synced with the audio that she is speaking: the audio was continued from another shot, and in this one, she is saying different words. (00:12:00)
Witch Lady - S4-E21
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Randy is rolled down the basement steps in a bag, there is no foot protruding from the bag; once Randy reaches the bottom, the foot is sticking out.
Earl and Joy's Anniversary - S4-E10
Continuity mistake: Earl yells "Fire!" from inside the Crabshack's restroom. As he does, a woman with dark brown hair and wearing a blue plaid shirt gets up from her table to evacuate the restaurant. A long shot outside the restroom of Earl yelling "Fire!" has the same woman getting up and leaving again.
Other mistake: When Earl meets with Kimmi in her room, she's supposed to watch "You've Got Mail" - her TV, however, is switched off.
Character mistake: While filming the cheerleader performance, Jasper refers to his inability of using computers ("We're gonna put this on YouTube as soon as one of us figures out how to use a computer!"). Earlier in the series, however, Jasper ordered himself a Russian wife online, so this statement is definitely off-character.
Little Bad Voodoo Brother - S4-E8
Revealing mistake: When Earl and Randy are being beaten by the mob, it is obvious that no contact is being made when Earl is kicked or when Randy is being beaten with sticks. (00:17:40)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Randy and Arlen are sitting in the bar, and Randy is telling Arlen how to be a better little brother, take notice that the beer bottles on the table increases in number, and the arrangement of the bottles changes too.
Witch Lady - S4-E21
Continuity mistake: When Joy is rolled down the basement steps in a bag, her feet are not protruding from the bag; upon landing, you can see that the feet are now showing.
Witch Lady - S4-E21
Visible crew/equipment: Throughout the whole episode, there are times that you see the green light from the camera reflecting off of the Witch Lady's glasses.
Sweet Johnny - S4-E5
Revealing mistake: The air mattress embedded in the ground that cushions their fall, and the curly hair and face of the stuntman for Earl are quite obvious when Earl and Sweet Johnny hit the ground.
Continuity mistake: Despite Randy's serious cat allergy (revealed in S2E4 "Larceny Of A Kitty Cat"), he's got no problem carrying a kitten in his newfound suit.
Continuity mistake: When Carl is staying with the son Earl in his motel room after he separated from his wife and starts going back and forth for the room, there are two socks on the floor by the bed, one of which changes position in another shot.
Continuity mistake: When Earl's mother is in the bathroom stall we see she has a tiny bit of toilet paper on the roll next to her. As Joy puts her head underneath the stall the amount of toilet paper is now much longer than before. It goes from half a square of paper to about 2-3 squares of paper.
Factual error: You hear a recording of Earl's ancestor from the 1860s, but audio recording like that was not technologically possible at the time (especially for someone as obscure as him). (00:10:30)
