The Decapod - S2-E3
Revealing mistake: In the midst of Steed's conversation with the wrestling referee, the camera loses focus and suddenly whip-pans away when it shouldn't. The actors continue their lines as the camera comes quickly back and refocuses on them. (00:19:45)
Revealing mistake: The secretary turns on the tape recorder to play back her employer's dictation. His voice starts speaking, but the tape reels aren't turning, and the button she pushed hasn't stayed depressed. Apparently, the machine isn't even on. (00:01:20)
Continuity mistake: When Steed, Mrs Peel and their travelling companion Mr Smallwood arrive at the pub, it is pitch black. However, when Smallwood leaves a few minutes later to go and visit his brother, it is fairly light again. All subsequent shots of him outside continue to be well lit, whilst in the shots looking out from the pub it is dark.
Revealing mistake: When Steed comes out from hiding behind the spiral staircase and wall, the rim of his hat touches the wall, which wobbles, revealing a fake wall. It's very noticeable, because there is a shadow cast from the staircase to the wall where you can see it moving.
Man-Eater of Surrey Green - S4-E11
Revealing mistake: When Steed and Mrs Peel are fighting one another, the stunt doubles used bear absolutely no resemblance to the actors.
Too Many Christmas Trees - S4-E13
Continuity mistake: When Steed and Emma are driving to the estate, the car's windscreen keeps disappearing. It's there in full shots, gone in close-ups, and reappears again every time we cut back to a long shot. (00:10:30)
Visible crew/equipment: When the old lady enters the costume shop to retrieve her knitting book, an equipment shadow sweeps across the lower right of the screen, then moves back to the left. (00:11:45)
Continuity mistake: Mrs. Peel is nibbling at a bunch of grapes. Every time the shot cuts to full, there are more grapes on the stem than in the close-ups. (00:35:30)
Continuity mistake: Steed tosses his opponent over his shoulder during the scuffle. The man lands on his back with his right hand extended over his head. But when the shot cuts to a different angle, both his arms are instantly down at his sides instead. (00:38:25)
Continuity mistake: Georgie's wig, which she'd pulled off and placed over the flowers on the mirrored stand, either changes position or disappears altogether during Steed's fight with Ivanov. (00:40:55)
Factual error: The bad guys are supposedly auctioning off the stolen Mona Lisa. But they and their prospective buyers aren't very art savvy. The painting is more than twice the size of Da Vinci's actual masterpiece. (00:44:50)
Continuity mistake: Jackson plants an explosive device in the 12th green cup while Mrs. Peel is watching through the periscope. He doesn't pick it up again, but when Reed looks, Jackson is still holding the bomb. (00:44:00)
Quick-Quick Slow Death - S4-E19
Revealing mistake: When Mrs. Peel unmasks the recently-murdered Bernard, the corpse's eyelid twitches. (00:37:00)
Visible crew/equipment: A large round studio light is visible in the lorry's door just after it strikes the motorcyclist. (00:02:00)
Continuity mistake: The cigarette lighter Robinson uses to set the incriminating papers alight disappears from the desk as he makes his phone call. (00:21:30)
Factual error: Major Robinson threatens Steed with a revolver equipped with a silencer. A military officer would certainly know better. Though it's a common movie and TV cliché, it is a glaring error. Revolvers are open-chambered, allowing sound to escape out the back of the barrel - so they can't be silenced. There are rare exceptions if the gun is heavily modified to close the open chamber gap, but that does not apply to the weapon featured here. (00:46:00)
Revealing mistake: The dead man in Steed's apartment is visibly breathing. (00:19:00)
The Bird Who Knew Too Much - S5-E5
Continuity mistake: When Mrs. Peel drives to Jordan's house, she parks in front of the house. When the assassin arrives shortly after, her car has disappeared.
Plot hole: The bad guy somehow knows what is going to happen (via the sketches) even though the events haven't happened yet, like knowing Mrs Peel was going to show up at Pool's mansion in that catsuit and hat, and that the scenes were going to play out like the sketches.
Visible crew/equipment: As Emma is leaving Steed's apartment, the boom dips into the shot at the upper left. (00:04:30)
