Marriage, Witches' Style - S5-E21

Revealing mistake: In addition to Samantha, Elizabeth Montgomery also played Serena. In scenes where both characters appeared, Elizabeth would face the camera and play one character and another actress, Melody McCord, would play the other with her back to the camera. But in this scene, when Mr. Beams tells Serena she has a luncheon date with her intended at the rotisserie, Melody (portraying Samantha), with her back to the camera, inadvertently turns her head, revealing her face. Marriage, Witches' Style - S5-E21

Revealing mistake: At the end of the episode, during Serena and Samantha's second meeting with Mr. Beams, in the wideshots of the two women sitting on the couch and also when they're both poking their heads through the doorway, Serena's body double actually appears face-forward. Additionally, in the closeups of Serena and Sam on the couch, both are played by Elizabeth Montgomery, and we can see the wall's color difference behind them due to the use of the split-screen technique. Super Arthur - S6-E20

Revealing mistake: Paul Lynde is supposedly "in" the mirror near the front door, but as he waves his arm to cast a spell, the shadow of his arm waving is visible at the far left, revealing he is actually standing off camera at a spot where his reflection is visible. Elizabeth Montgomery also briefly glances at him. (00:02:25)

Samantha is Earthbound - S8-E16

Revealing mistake: When Samantha, Darrin and Dr. Bombay are in the living room and walk as a group towards the television, you can see the crease in the carpet where the floor is going to collapse.

Serena's Richcraft - S8-E17

Revealing mistake: Darrin casts a shadow revealing painted sky background when he goes out to pay cab. Later, when he goes out to get in helicopter the neighborhood is not the neighborhood we normally see outside the Stevens' house. There's an Amoco gas station across the street.

Samantha's Witchcraft Blows a Fuse - S8-E25

Revealing mistake: When Darrin brings the ladder around to the front of the house, it's obvious this is not the actual house but a stage set; the background is obviously a painting and the driveway/garage have disappeared. Further the outside and windows are too narrow to be the actual house. The den is larger than the small facade in the scene.

Samantha's Witchcraft Blows a Fuse - S8-E25

Revealing mistake: When the officers pull away, the shadow of the car is visible on the painted backdrop of trees. This isn't the neighborhood of Morning Glory Circle with the Kravitz House across the street. The shadow reveals it's a stage backdrop. Further, this is basically the same as Allergic to the Macedonian DoDo Bird from Season 3, with the same DoDo Bird costume.

Santa Comes to Visit and Stays and Stays - S6-E14

Plot hole: Mrs. Kravitz, while standing in the Stephenses' front doorway, sees Santa Claus and assumes that it's Darrin in costume. However, the very next shot shows Santa exiting the kitchen (around the corner from the front door) and starting up the hallway toward the living room. There is no possible way Mrs. Kravitz could have seen him when she said she did. (00:09:30)

Trivia: The Screen Gems sets of Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie were right next to each other at the studio, and many of the actual sets and props were shared between the two shows. Both shows also shared Dick Albain, the Special Effects expert, who worked on the two shows for quite awhile.

Show generally

Question: In one episode (not sure which one but it was in the Dick York era), Darrin was arguing with Samantha and said something like "Confiding in a woman is like broadcasting by Telstar." What exactly does that mean and what was Telstar?

Answer: Telstar was an early communications satellite system. Darrin, in a particularly sexist manner reflective of this era, is saying that telling a secret to a woman means it is guaranteed to be "broadcasted" to multiple people.

Answer: The Telstar Reference was in Dangerous Diaper Dan when Samantha engages in too much gossip.
