Factual error: During the time in which Chelsea's driver's license was taken away, and she was taking driving lessons in order to get her license back, she came home one day with a paper which would give her permission to get a temporary license before her classes were finished. She told Bo she needed his signature on that paper for permission to get the temporary license. Chelsea is over 18, so why would she need parental permission to do anything? Parental permission isn't required for a legal adult, so that kind of kills the entire story line of Hope blaming Bo for Zack's death, because he gave Chelsea permission to get a temporary license so she could drive that night during which she ran Zack down, doesn't it?
Plot hole: On 11/29/04, Philip and Belle tell Sami that they want to use her wedding date, because they want to get married very soon, before Philip is shipped out. But Lucas later mentions that he and Sami don't even have invitations yet, which would indicate that their intended wedding date isn't very soon at all.
Continuity mistake: On 9/7/04, Dr. Bhalla is surprised to hear that Rex is "not a wealthy DiMera after all," but rather a "blue collar Brady." In fact, Dr. Bhalla's response is, "I had no idea." But just a few scenes earlier, when Dr. Bhalla entered Rex's loft, he greeted him as "Rex Brady." If Dr. Bhalla didn't know about Rex's parentage, then he should have called him "Rex DiMera," the name Rex used when he was a student at Salem University.
Plot hole: When Marlena finds out that Lucas has been working for Tony DiMera, she is angry and upset. He says it's none of her business, but she says that it is her business because she is the grandmother of Lucas' son, Will. Sami finds out about Lucas' new job about a month later, and is shocked. If Marlena was so concerned about Will, why didn't she say anything about Lucas' new job to Sami, Will's mother?
Plot hole: On 6/16/05, Mimi visited Marlena at her office to ask for advice. But why does Marlena still have an office at the hospital? She was believed dead for a full year, and had not even been back for two days at that point.
Plot hole: On 3/9/05, Chelsea's mother told Chelsea and Abby that it was bedtime. Then the girls snuck out to go to the Cheating Heart. Later the same night, Abby, Chelsea, and Jennifer were all at Alice's anniversary party, so it was apparently no longer after bedtime. Then, later still, Jennifer was upset that Abby wasn't at the house and therefore was breaking curfew, even though Abby was staying at Chelsea's house in the first place. Nothing about that timeline makes any sense.
Audio problem: On 12/1/03, John presents Marlena with a flower that he calls "Mahonia Japonia." The plant in question is actually called Mahonia Japonica. The final, hard "c" sound is missing when Drake Hogestyn says it aloud.
Continuity mistake: On 5/26/05, Chloe was not seen for several scenes in the middle of the episode, while her bandages were changed. However, when we saw her again, a careful observation reveals that the bandages haven't been changed at all. A number of minute details remained the same, such as a slight gap in the gauze at the right corner of her mouth and a loose strip projecting from the wrapping at her left temple. If Chloe had received new bandages, there would have been visible differences in the appearance of the cloth.
Plot hole: On 10/27/03, Brady picks up a newspaper with the headline, "Suspect List Grows in Police Slaying." But that doesn't make any sense. The page features pictures of the same seven people who have been suspects for the last few weeks, and no other suspects have come to light. The suspect list hasn't grown at all.
Continuity mistake: On 12/7/04, Abby and Chelsea tried to sneak into Jennifer's house, because it was already after curfew. Jennifer caught them and sent them to Abby's room, but they sneaked out to go to a boy-girl sleepover. The same night continued to get later and later, but then on 12/20/04 Jennifer called Abby on her cell phone and told her to make sure to get home by her 8pm curfew so they could decorate the tree.
Continuity mistake: On 4/28/04, Mickey called Julie, "Julie Horton Williams." But that's not Julie's name. Her maiden name was Olsen, not Horton. Although she is a member of the Horton family, "Horton" has never been a part of her name.
Plot hole: On 7/8/04, Belle listened to her answering machine messages, hoping that Shawn may have called her. Her outgoing message was, "This is Belle. You know what to do. If this is Shawn, please call me." That doesn't make any sense. If Shawn is hearing that message, then he has indeed called her and doesn't need to be told to do so. And if he doesn't call, he will never hear the message asking him to call.
Factual error: On 3/1/05, Kate wondered if she and John could be a couple, partly "because your son is married to my daughter." But it's Kate's son Philip who is married to John's daughter Belle, and not the other way around.
Continuity mistake: On 9/17/04, when Sami, Lucas, and Will went to the Chinese restaurant, a pan of the room initially showed that Kate was sitting far away from them. Later, when Kate heard Sami speaking, she turned around to peer through the plants lining the ledge above her seat, and Sami was sitting right there, much closer than she had been before.
Continuity mistake: On 7/7/05, Mickey talks about how he, Rex, and Patrick may have made a mistake in going to the police station "tonight." However, both prior to and after that scene, it was full daylight not only in Salem, but even on the plane that was carrying Belle and her family back from Europe, where it would have been hours later than it was in Salem.
Continuity mistake: At the end of the episode on Friday, 3/11/05, Bo and Hope were in the elevator when Billie called out that the DNA results were ready. Bo had to use his body to block the elevator door from closing so he could go back out onto the hospital floor. At the beginning of the episode on Monday, 3/14/05, Bo and Hope were still waiting for the elevator to arrive when Billie called out to them.
Plot hole: In January of 2005, John became a drug addict and was confronted by Nicole, Brady, and Kate. However, John was exhibiting all of the characteristic behaviors of drug addiction (lying, stealing, denying the need for help) as well as total chemical dependence, later on the same day that he first stole and injected painkillers. No addiction could progress that quickly.
Factual error: On 7/4/07, Hope told Ciara that Alice was her, Ciara's, "great-great-grandma." But Alice is Hope's grandmother and Ciara is Hope's daughter, so Alice is Ciara's great-grandmother, not great-great-grandmother.
Plot hole: New Salem is supposed to be in the Caribbean, while actual Salem is in the Midwest (near Chicago). When Hope and Patrick's plane crashed in August of 2004, it was close enough to New Salem that they washed up there. But it was also close enough to Salem that Bo was able to take a helicopter out to the crash site. Helicopters have a maximum range of 500 miles, while the Caribbean is over a thousand miles from the upper Midwest, so this is impossible.
Revealing mistake: On 11/20/03, the killer sends Bo a video image of Caroline on a PDA. You can see the "Caroline in Hell" effect wobbling around on the screen of the PDA where it's been superimposed in post-production.
