Continuity mistake: On the 12/3/03 show at the end, someone puts their hand on Jennifer's shoulder and she turns around and says, 'Oh you.' When they replay the scene on the 12/4/03 show, she turns around and says, 'Ohhhh...Jack.'
Revealing mistake: On 2/17/06, Kate was looking at a picture of Carrie and Austin on her cell phone. The cell phone wasn't held perfectly still, and whenever it moved there was a jerky movement of the picture. The picture had been added in post-production, rather than actually being displayed on the phone, and it became obvious every time the image moved.
Continuity mistake: The bathroom in Belle's penthouse underwent a bit of unexplained remodeling. In March of 2004, when Jan tried to electrocute Belle, Belle was taking a bath in a freestanding tub in the middle of the room. Later that year, after Philip had moved in, the bathroom had a regular shower and the room wasn't even large enough to have accomodated the tub we had seen before.
Factual error: On May 17 and 18, 2007, there were frequent references by multiple characters to a "level four typhoon" on its way. However, there is no such thing as a level four typhoon. Typhoon strengths are not designated by numbers, but by the prefixes "severe" and "super." On the other hand, strong tropical systems near Australia, which is where these events took place, are not even called "typhoons," but "tropical cyclones," although there are numerical categories for them.
Factual error: On 6/15/05, Marlena told Mimi that "the first rule of the Hippocratic Oath is 'First, do no harm.'" It is a common misconception that the Oath begins with that phrase, which actually appears nowhere in either the ancient or modern versions. But Marlena, a psychiatrist, would certainly know the actual Oath.
Continuity mistake: On 6/20/05, Bo and Billie talk about how they are going to look for their daughter Georgia via a website for "adopted children who have turned eighteen and are looking for their biological parents." However, Georgia was supposedly still sixteen in the fall of 2004, per Billie's statements, so she couldn't have been more than seventeen at the time this conversation happened.
Continuity mistake: On 4/16/04, Belle mentions that she felt particularly close to the late Alice Horton, because she "never had a grandmother in [her] life." But although she has never been seen on-screen, the show has always indicated that Marlena's mother was still living. Marlena has visited her parents in Colorado, and her son Eric is supposed to be living with them. Recently, Belle even made hot cocoa for her mother, saying that she would do it the same way as "Grandma Evans."
Continuity mistake: The nameplate on Kate Roberts' door was seen on 12/12/03, and it lists her job title as "editor in chief." But Basic Black is a fashion designer, and nothing about the company or Kate's job has ever involved a publication of any kind.
Continuity mistake: On 6/27/05, Bonnie referred to Mimi as her "youngest." But Bonnie has a son, Connor, who is younger than Mimi.
Revealing mistake: On 1/26/04, the big, muscular animal handler was struck very lightly in the back of the shoulder, with what looked like a flimsy rubber or plastic object, and fell unconscious. It's ludicrous to imagine that such a weak "blow" could even injure that man at all, let alone knock him out.
Plot hole: On 1/13/04, John scoffs at Marlena's belief that the ghosts of Roman and Abe spoke to Celeste. This seems odd, given that John exorcized Satan from Marlena and then God brought her back to life after she died, back in 1995.
Continuity mistake: At the end of the episode on 6/5/07, Julie read Santo DiMera's letter, in which he declares a vendetta against the Brady family. She is translating the letter from Italian, and her husband Doug cuts in to say "Brady" and "Salem" when he was correctly able to guess what was written. On 6/6/07, at the beginning of the episode, the scene was repeated with Julie reading the letter. But this time, she read those words herself.
Plot hole: On 9/14/04, Hope tells Patrick that Billie Reed is the only person who has ever come between her and Bo. But that statement is more than a little ridiculous. Stefano DiMera, Princess Gina, Megan Hathaway, Larry Welch, and John Black have all come between Bo and Hope.
Continuity mistake: On 5/17/04, Jan removed her "Mrs. B." costume and revealed herself to Shawn. The camera was off her for a moment, and when it returned she was holding a wig and a prosthetic nose. But the wig was much darker than the powdered grey hair she had as Mrs. B., and removing the nose doesn't account from the elaborate facial makeup she had been wearing that completely vanished while the camera was on Shawn.
Plot hole: Why has nobody investigated where all of this dramatic blood comes from? Kate's wedding cake was full of blood, blood was poured on Tony, and the flowers at Tuscany had been dipped in blood on Valentine's Day. Yet the origin of this blood was never explained.
Other mistake: The only uniform Phillip ever wears is a dress uniform. This uniform is the equivalent of a tuxedo and should only be worn under very formal circumstances. No one, especially during a war, takes as much leave as he does.
Plot hole: On 9/29/04, Lexie called Brady to tell him that his father, John, was missing and presumed dead. She made the call from a pay phone in the hospital lobby. But why would Lexie make such a sensitive call from a public place, when she has an office?
Continuity mistake: At the end of the 12/9/03 episode, Bo receives a message on his PDA, and he and Hope see that it's Roman's obituary. The obituary appears again at the beginning of the 12/10/03 episode, but Bo and Hope act through a completely different scene leading up to it.
Plot hole: On 6/8/04, when Marlena first saw Victor on Melaswen, Victor told her all about how Jan tried to murder him under Nicole's orders. Then, in May of 2005, Marlena finally returns to Salem and soon has several civil encounters with Nicole, as if she doesn't know that the woman conspired to commit murder. She also fails to denounce Jan, even though Marlena's daughter's best friend Mimi could greatly benefit from such a revelation since she currently stands accused of attacking the woman.
Factual error: When Sami called the psychic hotline in 2004, the caller ID identified her as "Samantha J. Brady," presumably for her supposed middle name Jean. But Sami's middle name is actually Gene, the masculine version of the name, because she was named after Eugene Bradford.
