Factual error: During the 9/29/04 and 9/30/04 episodes, Fox and Whitney decide to go to dinner. Fox calls a restaurant and says they will be there in 30 minutes. When they show up at the restaurant, Whitney has changed clothes and her curly hair is now completely straight and has completely re-done her make-up. If Whitney had gone and done all of that, she would not have arrived at the restaurant in 30 minutes.
Plot hole: Theresa was convicted of murdering Julian Crane. But then Julian was discovered to have survived the shooting, and Theresa reversed her story and claimed that she only confessed to protect Ethan, whom she incorrectly believed to be the killer. Yet the investigation was never re-opened. I mean, I know Julian didn't actually die, but most police departments don't take very kindly to armed assault, either.
Factual error: When Jessica and Miguel finally convince Charity to play a videogame, they start playing, but you can see that there is no cartridge in the Nintendo 64 (which cannot play a game without the cartridge being inserted).
Revealing mistake: Season 1, Episode 3, 7/7/99. Just before Theresa bumps the ladder that causes the paint to spill onto Ethan, a camera shot shows the pan, and it's plainly obvious that it's water.
Visible crew/equipment: Season 1, Episode 2, 7/6/99. When Ethan and Gwen are complaining that they're getting arrested on the beach, a boom mic can be seen in the top right corner of the screen when it pans out to show Luis putting out the fire.
Character mistake: On 7/30/04, a maid enters the dining room and addresses Ethan as "Mr. Crane." Ethan's last name is Winthrop, although he lives in the Crane mansion.
Answer: It's just supposed to be funny. It's an old plot ploy that's been overused in recent years. The last time it was really funny was when Home Improvement did it with the next door neighbor. I think they use a different voice because they like the way that actor's voice sounds.
