Deep Throat - S1-E2
Revealing mistake: During the hard braking due to avoiding the collision with the unknown agency cars, notice that there are stunt people sitting in the car instead of Mulder and Scully. (00:21:15)
Deep Throat - S1-E2
Other mistake: When Scully and Mulder are pulled over by the government agents, one agent takes and unloads Scully's gun. When he removes the magazine you can see it has only one bullet in it, as this model of magazine has cutaway sides to show the amount of bullets in them. (00:26:47)
Deep Throat - S1-E2
Continuity mistake: When complaining about the lack of connection in the first take Scully holds the handset directed downwards, but in the next shot she holds it upwards. (00:33:40)
Deep Throat - S1-E2
Continuity mistake: When Scully is holding the guy's airbase security ID badge it changes between shots.
Deep Throat - S1-E2
Revealing mistake: Mulder pulls away from the hotel after telling Scully he is going to shower and then they'll leave. The tire marks from previous takes are visible on the pavement.
Continuity mistake: When filmed from the back, Tom is stopping Mulder from entering the crime scene by laying his hand on Mulder’s chest, while in the front shot his left hand remains free. (00:23:00)
Revealing mistake: After Scully handcuffs Tooms to the bathtub there is a close up of his face and you can see the edge of his contact lens. (00:39:07)

Continuity mistake: When Tooms is in the cell right at The End, we see when his food is being brought over to him on the tray that there is a drink and a bun, when the shot changes to the other side of the door the drink and bun have swapped sides. When the shot changes back to the other side of the door, the tray is now the other way around and then when the shot goes back to the other side the whole tray has now disappeared. (00:39:40)
Other mistake: When Mulder and Scully are first visiting Darlene Morris, there is a split-second shot of Mulder examining residue on his fingers that is edited in between Mulder and Scully ascending the steps to the porch and knocking on the door. It's as if the sequence was initially longer with Mulder discovering a suspicious substance before he and Scully knocked on the door that was not completely edited out. Note: this mistake may only appear on certain formats. At the time this mistake was originally posted, I spotted it on Netflix. However, it does not occur on my DVD, nor Hulu. (00:07:20)
Continuity mistake: While filmed from behind, Darlene lowers her hands, but in the next front shot her hands are still kept crossed on her chest. (00:38:50)
Revealing mistake: At The Beginning of the episode Darlene burns her hand trying to open the door, she then puts on an oven mitt and opens the door. If you look closely though she still uses her other naked hand as well as the covered hand to open the door and her naked hand is completely unhurt.
Other mistake: At The Beginning when Mulder and Scully leave the room and walk across the FBI office you can see and hear the camera get knocked to the left by something (it was probably the filing cabinet that they walk past a second later). (00:05:19)
Factual error: Atlantic City, New Jersey really doesn't have woods around it like it does in this episode.
Continuity mistake: Near The End of the episode, Mulder is reviewing black-and-white photos of The Jersey Devil. A wedding ring is visible on The Jersey Devil's left hand in the photo. Earlier in the episode, she is not wearing the ring.
Audio problem: The man changing the flat tire in The Beginning of the episode drops his flashlight. He says "dang it" but his mouth doesn't move.

Continuity mistake: When the cup falls over when Lauren wants to see Mr. Dorlund, the box of tissues disappears in the last shot. (00:08:20)
Continuity mistake: Howard Graves' tombstone states that he died on the 5th of October, but the opening scene's date stamp says the 22nd of September, when it was supposed to be two weeks after Graves had died. (00:11:40 - 00:19:55)
Answer: As he stated many times throughout the series, Mulder needed Scully to be sober and skeptical. Whenever Scully's skepticism wavered and she started questioning her own rationality, Mulder would try to restore her sense of skepticism, because he needed her to be clear-thinking.
