A Family Way - S4-E5

Revealing mistake: During the scene when Dawson and Gretchen are talking on the bridge, two couples walk by in the background. An older couple passes from left to right, and a younger couple walks from right to left. The younger couple is a woman with blonde, curly hair wearing a green top and beige/white skirt, and a guy wearing a green or blue top and white pants. During the same scene, the same younger couple again walks by in the background from right to left two more times. Then the older couple walks by again from left to right. Then one final time, the younger couple walks by yet again for a fourth time from right to left. Guess they were using the extras a lot that day. (00:27:15 - 00:28:50)

A Family Way - S4-E5

Continuity mistake: When Dawson is coming down the stairs to talk to his parents in the living room, there is a shot of Gail and Mitch on the couch together. Gail is sitting in such a way that her legs are draped over Mitch's legs, and her right leg is specifically hanging over his right leg touching it. But in the next shot, they show Gail and Mitch from the other side of the couch; and suddenly she is sitting with her legs up, bent at the knees and Mitch has his right leg up. There wasn't enough time between shots for anyone to move.

Suggested correction: Actually, it shows her taking it off and continuing to talk to Jack.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - S4-E9

Plot hole: During the Leery's Christmas party, Jen asks Jack which colleges he applied to in her name. He replies: Bard, Brown, Columbia, Emerson, Sarah Lawrence, and BU (Boston University). But later in this season, Jen goes to visit NYC because she was accepted into the University of New York. How could she have been accepted there when she never applied? Jack didn't apply for her there, and she didn't fill out any college applications herself.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - S4-E9

Continuity mistake: When Jen and Jack are talking in her room, Jack asks "Have you finished your applications yet?" Jen is rubbing her hands together in front of her. But the next shot, suddenly Jen's arms are stretched back behind her. Too sudden to be a realistic transition.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - S4-E9

Continuity mistake: When Jen and Grams are arguing in the kitchen, Jen says "Why don't you donate to someone who cares". At this point, Jen turns to face away from Grams. But the next shot shows Jen suddenly turned towards Grams, facing her. Later in the scene when Grams says "Why don't you take the time to fill out a couple of your college applications", Jen is turned towards Grams. But the next shot suddenly Jen is facing away from Grams again. Apparently this scene were filmed two separate times, and edited together.

The Te of Pacey - S4-E12

Factual error: When Joey and Pacey go down to the Basement to talk, they catch Dawson and Gretchen kissing on the basement couch. They are lying on the bottom cushion of a couch raised above the floor. But when Pacey is talking to Gretchen about it in the kitchen during dinner, he says something about "Catching her and Dawson making out on the Basement Floor". He definitely uses the word floor, but Dawson and Gretchen weren't down on the floor - they were up on the couch. (00:23:25 - 00:26:05)

Hopeless - S4-E13

Revealing mistake: When Dawson arrives home after his evening with Gretchen and friends, his Mother is seated on the couch waiting up for him. As she talks to him, she stretches back, still seated on the couch; and you can see on her stomach the outlines of the padding she is wearing to make her appear pregnant when she really isn't. Winter's Tale - S4-E14

Plot hole: At the end of the episode, when Pacey and Joey finally sleep together, there is a moment before when they are both standing in front of the mirror talking. To the right of the mirror, there is a large window looking directly into the bedroom they are standing in. The curtains are pushed back, and you can see the outside through the window. Pacey and Joey make their way slowly towards the bed, making it clear they have one thing in mind. They don't seem to notice the window which would give full view to their bedroom and bed, and neither of them makes any attempt to close the curtains. Noone seems to care that anyone walking by would be able to look directly in on them while they are 'busy'. (00:39:25)

Winter's Tale - S4-E14

Plot hole: When Pacey and Joey run into Jen and Jack outside the restaurants, Jack suggests they all go to the pizza place near them. Joey and Pacey agree, and it is implied that all four of them are going to the same place to eat dinner together. But the next shot of inside the pizza restaurant only shows Joey and Pacey seated at a large table with Drue, Anna and the other guys. Jen and Jack are nowhere in sight. It isn't likely Jen and Jack wouldn't be seated with or near Pacey and Joey for dinner, since they suggested they all go there to eat.

Four Stories - S4-E15

Plot hole: During the 4th act of this episode, Dawson and Joey spend an evening together as friends. When they are walking out of the coffee shop, they suddenly laugh and switch their coffee cups as if they had each others. This doesn't make logical sense, as they wouldn't know they had the wrong coffees without tasting them first, and if they had tasted them already inside the shop or knew they had the wrong coffees, they probably would have switched the cups then without waiting until they got outside. And usually the coffee is handed to the individual who ordered it, so they wouldn't be switched.

Jen: Cute.
Jack: Gay.
Jen: Aren't they all?

Parental Discretion Advised - S2-E22

Trivia: Paul Stupin mentions this true story while discussing the show during the narrative for this episode. Once when Joshua Jackson (who played Pacey) was out swimming at night, there was a girl who was caught in some currents. He jumped in the water, swam out and brought the girl to safety. Joshua made the local newspapers as a "hero", and was known around Wilmington as 'the guy who saved the drowning girl'. The show also had a big ceremony on the set, where they gave Joshua a life preserver in honor of his heroic deeds. (00:06:10)
