Continuity mistake: When Jack is at the powerstation he checks his watch. It is 19:12:26, and it takes 1 min 57 seconds until we see the timer (yellow clock), which shows 19:13:47 and not 19:14:23 which it should be as the show is in real time. This is only a mistake if we consider agent Jack Bauer's watch as being accurate, but given how time-critical a lot of his work is, you wouldn't expect him to be casual about the time. (00:12:10)
Day 5: 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM - S5-E11
Plot hole: This is the first time we see the contact between the boyfriend of Lynn McGill's sister and the terrorists regarding Lynn's keycard. There is no reason they would know each other. (00:06:10 - 00:06:50)
Day 4: 7:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. - S4-E13
Character mistake: Near the start of the episode, Curtis asks how many square miles are affected by the blackout, and is told "approximately 8." A few minutes later, Sarah states that the blackout area is "everything within an 8 mile radius." These are vastly different amounts. An 8 mile radius would cover approximately 201 square miles. (00:02:25 - 00:06:55)
Day 7: 12:00 AM - 1:00 AM - S7-E17
Plot hole: Jack is informed that experimental treatment using stem cells from a genetically compatible donor is being developed that might be able to cure his condition. Stem cells are used to treat diseases where a cell type in the patient's body malfunctions, such as insulin-producing beta cells in diabetes, or where injury has killed cells that do not regenerate, such as in spinal cord injury. In these cases stem cells can replace the damaged cells and make sense as therapy (bone marrow transplant as leukemia treatment is one real such treatment). Prions (which is what the show calls the bioagent) and bacteria (which is how the show describes the bioagent) cannot be cured by stem cells, since the cause of the disease is not damaged or defective cells. Even if the disease damaged brain cells and stem cells cured that, it would resume later since the causative agent is still there.
Day 7: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM - S7-E7
Continuity mistake: When Agent Walker enters the building where Matobo is being held, Chloe tells her on com the stairway is to Agent Walker's left, she then immediately goes to the door to her right to enter the stairwell to let Jack Tony and Bill in from the roof.
Suggested correction: After saying there's law firms to the left (brown door) , and on your right is a suit of offices where Matabo's being held (glass doors)... Chloe says. "stairway is down the hall to your left." She then proceeded down the hall that's to her left. The door, however, is on the right-hand side of that hall. I can understand the person mistakenly understood that, but it's not a continuity error.
Day 7: 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM - S7-E1
Character mistake: When Ethan Kanin tells president Taylor that Henry has managed to convince Kevin Aldridge to hold off on his report about the Sangalan invasion, he accidentally refers to the reporter as "Henry Aldridge."
Day 7: 11:00 PM - 12:00 AM - S7-E16
Plot hole: The director of CDC informs the cabinet that the biological weapon at hand is a "prion variant indigenous to the East Congo" and refers to it as a "strain". A prion is a protein, not a bacterium, so it cannot be indigenous to a certain place and cannot belong to any strain. More importantly, prion diseases are not known to be transmissible in an airborne fashion (Mad Cow and Kuru, also prion diseases, are transmitted by ingestion), which kinda takes the air out of the threat. However, the description of prion disease symptoms and the example of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease as being caused by prions are accurate.
Day 2: 12:00 Noon-1:00 P.M. - S2-E5
Revealing mistake: The Fox news video that Palmer watches of the Ambassador's helicopter being shot down is marked 1:18:24 in the lower right hand corner. The episode is supposed to take place between Noon and 1 p.m. This is 41.47 into the episode.
Continuity mistake: When entering the safe-house Nina walks past the lit lamp on a side table. Seconds later when Mrs. Bauer walks past, it is switched off. (00:11:15)
Day 7: 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM - S7-E23
Factual error: The head scientist tells Tony that the pathogen can survive 2 hours and longer after to host's death. Assuming it is either virus or prion (a protein), it wouldn't be alive to begin with and could effectively remain in Jack's body indefinitely.
Day 8: 8:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. - S8-E5
Other mistake: In the car Jack practises his cover story posing as a German arms dealer. But when he mentions his fake name Ernst Meier he says it in the English way, not in the German one. No man with German language knowledge would say it in this very wrong way, and it would give him away immediately. (00:22:05)
Day 3: 3:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. - S3-E3
Plot hole: In the scene when Jack and Nicole isolate the Singers, Jack is informed that they've been tested on site, and the results were negative for the virus, less than 15 minutes after being isolated. However, later in the day the results take several hours to be made available, and have to be processed elsewhere, in a lab. (00:17:45)
Revealing mistake: Bad guy is shot but can be seen breathing afterwards on the ground. At the start of the next episode, he was shown to be shot in the head. (00:40:38)
Continuity mistake: The clock just tells the viewer that it is 4:40am. Sen. Palmer interrogates his son about the rape of his daughter. In the room, there is a clock that shows 4:57am instead. (00:27:43)
Day 5: 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM - S5-E19
Factual error: When Chloe is at Bill's, she brings up the details of the diplomatic flight, and it shows the aircraft as a Boeing 757-200. This is a twin-engine aircraft, but the one shown is a tri-jet.
Day 6: 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM - S6-E3
Visible crew/equipment: After Tom tells President Palmer that Sandra has been arrested, when it cuts to the interior shot inside the car with Agent Samuels in the front passenger seat, the camera pans toward the rear passenger window showing all the protesters outside. In this shot there's a reflection of the camera operator's leg, wearing shorts, white socks and sneakers, and who is sitting where Sandra should be.
Day 6: 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM - S6-E3
Visible crew/equipment: When Jack pulls over at the side of the road, as he informs Curtis that Assad is two miles ahead on the service road, the red T-mark is visible on the ground where the two men will stand.
Day 8: 7:00 A.M. - 8:00 A.M. - S8-E16
Character mistake: When the exit guard puts Dana Walsh's ID card in the computer it comes up with "apprenhend on site", which should obviously be "apprehend on sight". (00:09:45)
Day 6: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM - S6-E10
Visible crew/equipment: While Bill, Nadia, and others begin watching Turner's team move toward Gredenko's presumed location on the live video feed, in the next shot facing Bill and Nadia, the T-mark quickly becomes visible at the bottom of the screen, near Bill's feet. (00:29:50)
Day 7: 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM - S7-E2
Visible crew/equipment: While FBI agents are searching for the sniper Jack tells Renee there must be a bad agent, and just as he warns her about who she lets in, the green T-mark is visible on the ground. (00:05:35)
