Day 2: 7:00 A.M.-8:00 A.M. - S2-E24
Continuity mistake: During the showdown between Jack and Kingsley at the colloseum, the shadows made by the early morning sun change throughout the sequence. By the time the SWAT-team arrives, the sunlight comes from the other side entirely. (00:20:50 - 00:29:45)
Day 4: 2:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M. - S4-E8
Continuity mistake: When James phones Jack, who is at Tony's house with Audrey, Jack says they are at "21408, Kipling, North Hollywood". Later, when Secret Service arrives to pick up Audrey, Jack walks outside the house, where we see the house number is actually 21048. The same can be seen earlier when Tony, Audrey and Jack first arrive at the house, but not as close-up. (00:25:05 - 00:30:05)
Day 3: 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. - S3-E6
Continuity mistake: When Chase calls Chappelle from his car, his mobile shows the date and time "Sep 4. 03 (Thu) 2.15pm" rather than the actual time 06:09, which is displayed seconds later on screen. (00:09:10)
Day 2: 2:00 A.M.-3:00 A.M. - S2-E19
Audio problem: When Tony tells Michelle that he told the president about the chip Jack found, they cut to a different angle, and Tony is still speaking, but his lips aren't moving.
Day 6: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM - S6-E9
Visible crew/equipment: When Jack and Marilyn's car pulls up to 9407 Hindry Place, with the tactical van behind them, the filming crew's vehicle's license plate, beginning with 9DGE, is reflected on the car's windshield. (01:11:20)
Day 3: 8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. - S3-E8
Revealing mistake: Right when Jack and the prisoner are walking through what appears to be the gun room in the prison, you can see the guy who attacks them through the door. You can only see a small part of him but he is obviously waiting to enter the scene and attack. (00:14:00)
Day 5: 3:00 AM - 4:00 AM - S5-E21
Audio problem: In the scene where the President Logan is in his office and planning to take his own life, he gets a phone call from CTU's Miles Papazian. When President Logan answers the intercom, his voice sounds like he is the one talking through the intercom, eventhough the camera stays on President Logan. After answering the intercom, his voice changes back to normal.
Day 4: 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. - S4-E5
Continuity mistake: When the cop in the car reaches to his microphone, his right hand is empty. When he types into the keyboard one second later, he is suddenly holding a pen between his fingers. (00:22:05)
Day 2: 5:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. - S2-E10
Revealing mistake: Kate Warner holds a bloody towel to her wounded earlobe. She puts it away and you can see a very clean band aid around the lobe. (00:27:55)
Day 2: 12:00 Midnight-1:00 A.M. - S2-E17
Continuity mistake: When Kate and Jack are escaping CTU the mirror breaks off one of the doors when the security guard tries to close the gate. Later on in the episode both of the mirrors are on the car.
Day 3: 9:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M. - S3-E21
Continuity mistake: When Tony locks down Tech One from his office, the CCTV screen he's watching shows the monitors in there displaying the "locked down" message moments before they actually change to the message in the next shot within Tech One. (00:36:40)
Factual error: Janet would have been in surgery for several hours, instead of just 40 minutes or so.
Day 4: 9:00 P.M.-10:00 P.M. - S4-E15
Continuity mistake: Chloe tells Michelle that she's confirmed Marwan's identity using voice tags from McLennan Forrester, but all of the computer records at MF were wiped out a few episodes earlier by the EMP, according to both the MF employees and CTU. The fact that they didn't get any information from the company except for the printouts Jack and Paul extracted was a major plot point a few hours ago, so even if a real EMP wouldn't do this, the fact that it's stated repeatedly in the show means it should hold true within the series; Chloe suddenly having information from them an hour or so later is discontinuous, and thus a mistake.
Day 4: 11:00 P.M.-12:00 A.M. - S4-E17
Continuity mistake: When Jack gets out of the helicopter near the reserve power station, he slams the helicopter door, but it immediately bounces back open. In the next shot its closed.
Day 2: 7:00 A.M.-8:00 A.M. - S2-E24
Other mistake: In the shootout at the stadium, several times when Jack fires a gun the sound of the gun firing is heard but it is obvious that the gun did NOT fire. Most noticeable when Jack fires the third shot at the man behind the wall and when he is struggling for the gun with the last guy who he beats up.
Continuity mistake: When the CTU units arrive with the helicopter, they ask Teri to drop the weapon. She puts down the weapon, than it is a cut to a view from behind Teri and she still has the weapon in her hand, but is starting bend to put the weapon down.
Day 2: 8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. - S2-E13
Deliberate mistake: The blue and white airplane when the male terrorist tries to take off has the following registration: N34G5 This seems to be a deliberate mistake as only the following N registrations are officially possible: N plus one to five numbers (N12345) / N plus one to four numbers and one suffix letter (N1234Z) / N plus one to three numbers and two suffix letters (N123AZ).
Day 2: 5:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. - S2-E10
Revealing mistake: Right after Kim Bauer and Miguel start a fire in the police van, the vehicle swerves off the road and tumbles. In the next shot, you see "Kim" on top of the car, trying to get in through the window (the car is about to fall off a slope or something). Pay close attention, zoom in, or whatever, the woman is not Kim but is a stunt double. She's got a much chubbier-looking face and is definitely not Kim Bauer. This occurs at 19:40 in this episode. (00:19:40)
Day 3: 12:00 P.M.-1:00 P.M. - S3-E24
Continuity mistake: In the teachers' lounge Jack tells Chase that the second floor is cleared. When he doesn't get an answer he realises something is wrong and runs down to the floor Chase is searching. After he's cut Chase's hand off he runs out into the hallway and into the lounge which is suddenly on the same floor Chase was on.
Factual error: At some point Jack tries to get a message to CTU about the fact that he is being held hostage. The enemy sees Jack writing and tells Jack to shred the message. I work in government security. Believe me, no government agency would have a simple shredder that just cuts the paper into strips. Required is a cross cut shredder that breaks the paper into almost a pulverized state.
Chosen answer: Nobody knew, not even the writers, until at least halfway through the season when they were writing the end. They wanted to keep all options open.
