Continuity mistake: When Yu-jin's mother stands up after Lord Kim kills her husband, the hair pin that she threatened Lady Yun with can be seen on the ground. The hairpin is in a position where the green end can be seen pointed towards her. When the shot cuts, the hairpin has suddenly rotated 180°. (00:17:51)
Episode #1.1 - S1-E1
Continuity mistake: When Yu-jin is caught looking up at the sky, in the shot after Mr. Haengrang asks "What are you looking at", he has his left hand at his side. But in the next shot, his left hand is raised. Then his hand is by his side again in the shot after that. (00:11:15)
Other mistake: The character Su-mi is depicted as an adolescent girl in her teens. She is introduced in Episode 2, which is set in 1902. Episodes 2 through 22 take place between 1902 and 1904, then a 3-year time jump occurs, meaning Episodes 22 through 24 take place in 1907. Also, the final time we see her, she is shown as a member of the Righteous Army which takes place two years after 1907 (1909). Yet during this 7-year timespan, she shows no signs of ageing.
Continuity mistake: In the flashback of Eugene leaving the photo studio in Tokyo, he is holding a photo of him and Ae-sin. In the close-up shot of the photo, his right hand is shown placed along the side of the photo, towards the middle. When the camera cuts back to him, his right hand is suddenly placed at the bottom of the photo. (01:30:50)
Continuity mistake: When Dong-mae is lying on the ground and about to die, there in an extreme close-up of his right eye (shown from the side), where we can see a bloodied tear next to his eye. This bloodied tear cannot be seen in any other shot of his face. (00:44:55)
Continuity mistake: After Hui-seong takes the photos of all the officials, the scene cuts to the dead guy lying on the floor. There is a small puddle of blood forming on the floor. When the shot cuts to reveal Eugene is in the room, the puddle of blood is much bigger. (00:02:15)
Other mistake: After Haengrang and Haman have succumbed to their wounds and died, a puddle of blood can be seen in between the two of them. The problem is, this puddle of blood doesn't appear to be emerging from anywhere. The blood shown on the ground would have come from their wounds (and would have formed the puddle of blood), but the puddle isn't connected to either of their bodies. (01:19:40)
Revealing mistake: After Mr. Haengrang and Ms. Haman are shot by the Japanese soldiers, there are visible blood stains on their clothing from the wounds they would have sustained. But there are no bullet holes shown on the blooded part of their clothing, which is where the bullets would have hit. (01:17:49)
Continuity mistake: When Mr. Haengrang starts to collapse after getting shot, a blood stain can be seen beginning to form on one side of his chest. Three shots after this, two tiny drops of blood have suddenly appeared on his shoulder and upper sleeve (on the opposite side of his chest) that were not there a few seconds earlier. (01:17:49)
Continuity mistake: When Mr. Haengrang and Ms. Haman are walking through the village, just as Ms. Haman says "That's the only thing that bothers me", one of the ribbons used to tie Haengrang's hat can be seen lightly blowing in the wind. In the next shot, the ribbon is completely still. (01:13:42)
Continuity mistake: After a guard is heard shouting "Stop for a moment", Dong-mae is shown watching from a distance. The camera then cuts to a shot of Dong-mae standing beside a building. When it cuts to a closer shot of Dong-mae, a woman suddenly appears in the background walking into the alley way behind him. (00:29:02)
Plot hole: When Takashi is rescued by the other soldiers, he finds a piece of red fabric on him. He then has a flashback to the scene where that same piece of red fabric fell from Hong-pa's body whilst she was hanging beneath the tunnel and realises they are both the same piece. However, when this scene played out earlier, Takashi did not see this happen. He was on top of the bridge and was being held at gunpoint by Eugene, so he couldn't have seen the piece of fabric fall from her body. (00:46:10)
Continuity mistake: When the Japanese soldiers are arresting the English teacher and Nam-jong attempts to intervene, whilst one of the soldiers says "This American witch sold Japanese information to America", he is shown holding the strap for his rifle with his hand near his chest. When the camera changes angles, his hand is touching the bottom of the strap (near the butt of the rifle). (01:09:02)
Continuity mistake: When Eugene is about to shoot Wan-ik, after the flashback of Yong-ju saying "The one who killed Sang-wan and his wife was Lee Wan-ik", the scene cuts back to Wan-ik. In the shot, we can see his aid standing behind Wan-ik, to the right of him. The camera cuts to Eugene aiming, but when he fires in the next shot, the aid is now behind Wan-ik on his left. In the same shot, he ducks down, but in the following wide shot, he is standing upright. (00:12:00)
Continuity mistake: After Hui-seong tells his parents to annul the engagement, there is a montage of him setting up his work desk. A small blue notepad can be seen placed on top of blank pieces of A4 paper. The notepad is positioned towards the edge of the page, next to other accessories on the desk. But in the next shot, the notepad is now positioned at the opposite edge of the page, away from all the other accessories. (01:01:18)
Continuity mistake: Gwan-su stands outside the American legation. In a wide shot, we can see one of the ribbons used to tie his hat with can be seen going over his left shoulder. In the next shot, the ribbon is suddenly off his shoulder. (00:38:48)
Continuity mistake: When Dong-mae slits the throat of the Japanese official, a few streaks of the man's blood suddenly appear on his nose that weren't there a couple seconds prior. (00:25:30)
Continuity mistake: When Ae-sin is about to drink the coffee Eugene handed to her, in one shot, she has the tips of her left-hand fingers placed on the side of the cup. In the next shot, her entire left hand is placed on the side of the cup. (00:07:38)
Continuity mistake: When Eugene finds the note from Ae-sin in the barn, in the shots where the camera is on him, he is holding the paper near the top. When the camera is on the paper, his hand is nearer towards the middle of the page. (01:10:02)
Continuity mistake: When Hina turns around to stab the man behind her, it is revealed that it was Dong-mae, who grabs onto her arm. At first, we can see his hand is positioned a few inches away from her the edge of her sleeve. The next shot, he is holding onto the edge of the sleeve. Then in the shot after that, he is a few inches away from the edge of the sleeve. (00:06:33)
