Andy and Helen Get Married - S1-E1
Other mistake: Sam Jones' son, Mike, tells Aunt Bee that the farmhouse has been in their family for 150 years. While showing Aunt Bee a photo album, he points to a photo and says, "That's my great-great-grandfather who started this farm." Pointing to a woman in the same photo, Mike says, "That's my great-grandmother. She lives in Philadelphia." It is very unlikely that the daughter of a man who had started a farm 150 years earlier would still be alive. Assuming the man started the farm when he was in his 20s, he would have had to father a child when he was in his 70s and she would now have to be in her 100s.
Andy and Helen Get Married - S1-E1
Revealing mistake: A shot shows the interior of the church where Andy Taylor and Helen Crump will be wed. Shrubs and trees are visible outside the church entrance but they are obviously just a painted backdrop. As people enter the church, they cast shadows on the backdrop.
Other mistake: While Sam is working in the yard, Goober drives up and hands Sam a registered letter from New York City. The post office had called Sam to tell him Goober was bringing the letter. However, a registered letter has to be signed for by the addressee. (The delivery receipt is form #3849.) Goober would not have been allowed to sign for it.
Factual error: Howard and Emmett travel to New York City to take part in a televised panel discussion on the merits of city life versus small-town life. The station is "KZOK Channel 12." All television stations east of the Mississippi River begin with the letter W, not K.
Revealing mistake: The painted backdrop depicting the street and distant buildings is much too close to the Mayberry City Council office. As people come and go, they cast shadows on the backdrop.
Other mistake: Arnold limps in to buy a ballgame ticket but in every scene after he's fine.
Emmett's 50th Birthday - S1-E11
Revealing mistake: As Millie Swanson exits Emmett's Fix-It Shop and passes by the window, she casts a shadow on the painted backdrop which depicts other buildings. The mailman then walks into the shop and he, too, casts a shadow on the backdrop.
Aunt Bee's Cruise: Part 1 - S1-E15
Revealing mistake: Aunt Bee is traveling on a cruise ship. The "water" in the background is a painted backdrop which is made all the more obvious by the painted whitecaps.
Aunt Bee's Cruise: Part 2 - S1-E16
Factual error: Captain Wolford tells Aunt Bee that he has performed several shipboard weddings. Contrary to popular belief, sea captains have no authority to perform weddings.
Aunt Bee's Cruise: Part 2 - S1-E16
Continuity mistake: Aunt Bee and Captain Wolford are sitting on the porch. The Captain extends his left arm behind Bee's head and rests his hand on her shoulder. In the close-up of Bee, there is no hand on her shoulder. In the following shot, the Captain's left hand is in his lap.
Visible crew/equipment: After Howard heads to the TV show with the bird, when it cuts to Aunt Bee and Mike in the car the reflection of the boom pole and mic can be seen on the car's rear windshield, and we see it moving again when they all drive away.
