Lance takes that as a sign of the big push, and when he drives off the reflections of lighting equipment and crew member, wearing a red shirt and sitting on the ground, are visible on the surface of the car. Trivia: The bio on the back of the book (unsure when it was supposed to be printed, let's assume that copy is from that same year) says that the author was born 58 years ago. The man we see dead at the beginning of the episode looks several years younger. The picture used at the back of the book is from actor Guy Williams, who was almost 50 at the time.
