Philip of Macedonia: Alexander. In your first act as regent, send your mother away.
Alexander: Exile my mother?
Philip of Macedonia: Back to her kinsman in Epirus, she'll be happy there.
Alexander: Is that the cost of my prove to you?
Philip of Macedonia: How do you think I came to power? My own two brothers.
Alexander: I know, you slew them, you want me to do that too?
Philip of Macedonia: Alexander, you have my temper.
Alexander: I know.
Philip of Macedonia: And my ambition, more I think. Alexandroplis? At least wait until I die first. hahahaha.
Elizabeth Barrett: What's another disaster to one who has known little but disaster all her life? But you're a fighter. You were born for victory and triumph. Oh, and if disaster ever came to you through me.
Robert Browning: Yes, a fighter. But I'm sick of fighting alone. I need a comrade in arms to fight beside me.
Elizabeth Barrett: But not one already wounded in battle.
Robert Browning: Wounded but undaunted, unbeaten, unbroken. What finer comrade could a man ask for?
Al Stephenson: I've seen nothing, I should have stayed at home and found out what was really going on.
Al Stephenson: You know, I had a dream. I dreamt I was home. I've had that same dream hundreds of times before. This time, I wanted to find out if it's really true. Am I really home?
Al Stephenson: We don't need to worry about that child. She can take care of herself.
Milly Stephenson: That's what she thinks.
Milly Stephenson: You're crazy.
Al Stephenson: No. Too sane for my own good.
Milly Stephenson: What do you think of the children?
Al Stephenson: Children? I don't recognize 'em. They've grown so old.
Milly Stephenson: I tried to stop them, to keep them just as they were when you left, but they got away from me.
Milly Stephenson: You'll probably have to make a speech.
Al Stephenson: It's my plan to meet that situation by getting plastered.
Peggy Stephenson: I've made up my mind.
Al Stephenson: Good girl.
Milly Stephenson: To do what?
Peggy Stephenson: I'm going to break that marriage up! I can't stand it seeing Fred tied to a woman he doesn't love and who doesn't love him. Oh, it's horrible for him. It's humiliating and it's killing his spirit. Somebody's got to help him.
Fred Derry: How long since you been home?
Al Stephenson: Oh, a couple-a centuries.
Audra Favor: I can't imagine eating a dog and not thinking anything of it.
John Russell: You even been hungry, lady? Not just ready for supper. Hungry enough so that your belly swells?
Audra Favor: I wouldn't care how hungry I got. I know I wouldn't eat one of those camp dogs.
John Russell: You'd eat it. You'd fight for the bones, too.
Audra Favor: Have you ever eaten a dog, Mr. Russell?
John Russell: Eaten one and lived like one.
Audra Favor: Dear me.
Wallace Wooley: Mere physical beauty isn't everything.
Wallace Wooley: I'm afraid you've got a hangover.
Daniel: Don't tell me what I've got! I invented the hangover. It was in 1892... B.C.
Matthew Harrison Brady: But your client is wrong. He is deluded. He has lost his way.
Henry Drummond: It's a shame we don't all possess your positive knowledge of what is right and what is wrong, Mr. Brady.
Matthew Harrison Brady: Funny how two people can start off at the same point and... drift apart.
Matthew Harrison Brady: Drummond and I have worked side by side in many battles for the common folk. Twice he campaigned for me when I ran for president.
Henry Drummond: That's right.
Matthew Harrison Brady: After all these years we find ourselves on the opposite side of an issue.
Henry Drummond: Well, that's evolution for you.
Matthew Harrison Brady: Why is it, my old friend, that you've moved so far away from me?
Henry Drummond: All motion is relative, Matt. Maybe it's you who've moved away by standing still.
Henry Drummond: The Gospel according to Brady! God speaks to Brady, and Brady tells the world! Brady, Brady, Brady, Almighty.
Matthew Harrison Brady: All of you know what I stand for - what I believe! I believe in the truth of the Book of Genesis! Exodus! Leviticus! Numbers! Deuteronomy! Joshua! Judges! Ruth! First Samuel! Second Samuel! First Kings! Second Kings! Isaiah! Jeremiah! Lamentations! Ezekiel.
Matthew Harrison Brady: Remember the wisdom of Solomon in the book of Proverbs. "He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind."
