Question: We know that Saruman and his tower remain standing, despite the flood... so how did the Palantir end up in the water? Did Saruman throw it out of the tower?

rabid anarchist

Chosen answer: Saruman did throw the palantiri. It's a missing scene that will, hopefully, be edited back in for the Extended Edition.

Continuity mistake: Throughout the flight with the seagulls attached to the peach stem, the length of the peach stem gets shorter and then longer and then shorter again.

Antz (1998)

Other mistake: Wouldn't flying out of the water with the unconscious Z in his arms be kind of tricky for Cutter, as his wings would be soaked?

Psycho (1960)

Question: I'm doing horror movies in my Media Studies course and we're looking at this film in great depth. There were many themes that came up a lot in the film, mainly mirrors, birds and eyes. I've had loads of interpretations of all of these, but does anyone know what they symbolise?

rabid anarchist

Chosen answer: Birds are just a favourite choice of spooky animal that Alfred Hitchcock seems to use hence the film "The Birds". Eyes show the window to our soul where our deepest fears originate and who isn't scared of getting knifed in the shower. The mirrors i can't explain but I can suggest that it just looks creepy.

Trivia: The head of comedy at the BBC said that the title had to include the word "Circus", because the people at the BBC had referred to the six cast members wandering around the BBC offices as a circus, so added "Flying" to make it sound less like a real circus and more like something out of the first world war. And in front of that, added "Monty Python" because it sounded like a really bad theatrical agent, and also the large, constricting snake was also appropriate imagery.

Getting the Bird - S5-E4

Audio problem: Jonesy is playing the organ. A pigeon 'flies' out the top of the organ and lands on the keys, so Jonesy picks it up and moves it, taking both his hands off the keys. Yet the music plays on.

Menace from the Deep - S3-E10

Revealing mistake: When Frazer is attempting to get the chocolate out of the crane machine, he tells Mainwaring to keep quiet. When he does this, he takes his hands of the machine, and it picks up the chocolate on its own, without anyone controlling it.

Finding Nemo (2003)

Trivia: Many of the crew did voice cameos in the movie. Mr Ray the schoolteacher was co-writer Bob Peterson. Joe Ranft, who did various jobs on many Disney and Pixar movies was Jacques the French cleaning shrimp, and also played Wheezy in Toy Story 2. Seems they bagged all the best parts for themselves.

Finding Nemo (2003)

Plot hole: When Nemo swims off to the boat, a diver pops up and catches him, and all the fish react. But this diver should have been visible to Marlin and co. long before it reaches Nemo, as they are far enough from the boat and looking out into open sea, yet none of them reacts until the diver is right behind him. Also, bubbles should have risen into shot before the diver does. (00:14:25)

Suggested correction: The fish were focused on the boat, not on divers that were toward the bottom of the ledge that they were at.
