Ever After (1998)

Queen Marie: Baroness de Ghent, you are forthwith stripped of your title. And you and your horrible daughter are to be shipped to the Americas on the first available boat-unless, by some miracle, someone here will speak for you.
[There is dead silence amongst the Royal Court crowd.]
Rodmilla: [Anxiously looks around.] There seem to be quite a few people out of town.
Princess Danielle: [Voice from offscreen.] I will speak for her.
[Princess Danielle appears behind Rodmilla. The entire Royal Court bows. Shocked, Rodmilla turns to face Princess Danielle.]
Princess Danielle: She is, after all, my stepmother.
[Princess Danielle approaches Rodmilla and stops in front of her.]
Rodmilla: [Reluctantly she begins to slowly bow.] Your Highness.
Prince Henry: Marguerite.
[Shocked Marguerite turns toward Henry.]
Prince Henry: I don't believe you've met... My wife.
Princess Danielle: [With poise and composure she speaks softly.] I want you to know that I will forget you after this moment, and never think of you again. But you, I am quite certain, will think about me every single day for the rest of your life.
Rodmilla: And how long might that be?
Princess Danielle: [Looks at King Francis and Queen Marie.] All I ask, Your Majesties, is that you show her the same courtesy that she has bestowed upon me.

Ever After (1998)

King Francis: Baroness. Did you or did you not lie to Her Majesty, the Queen of France?
Queen Marie: Choose your words wisely, madame, for they may be your last.
Baroness Rodmilla de Ghent: A woman would do practically anything for the love of her daughter, Your Majesties. Perhaps I did get a little carried away.
Marguerite: Mother! What have you done?! Your Majesty, like you, I am just a victim here. She has lied to us both, and I am ashamed to call her family.
Baroness Rodmilla de Ghent: [Shoves Marguerite.] How dare you turn on me, you little ingrate!
Marguerite: [Feigns horror and shouts.] You see?! You see what I have to put up with?!
King Francis: [Pounds scepter on floor.] Silence! Both of you! Good Lord. [Looks at Jacqueline.] Are they always like this?
Jacqueline: Worse. Your Majesty.
Baroness Rodmilla de Ghent: [Angrily.] Jacqueline, darling, I'd hate to think you had anything to do with this.
Jacqueline: Of course not, Mother. I'm only here for the food.

Ever After trivia picture

Trivia: When Danielle is with Gustave in his painter's studio, just as Gustave says, "Five days in the stocks," there's a painting of a noblewoman on the easel beside them; the noblewoman left her gown and jewelry at the studio for the painter to consult while completing her portrait, and it is that noblewoman's gown Danielle borrows to impersonate a courtier. Then, while Danielle is at the royal court quoting Utopia to Henry, right after she says, "but that you first make thieves and then punish them," in the next shot, the older noblewoman at the center is the one from the portrait; she's played by Amanda Walker, the wife of Patrick Godfrey who plays Leonardo, also in this scene. Amanda was to have a line in this scene (in the goldenrod script version), commenting on Danielle's gown being identical to her own, but that line was cut. (00:21:45 - 00:29:20)

Other mistake: When Queen Marie tells Henry he was born to privilege and it comes with specific obligations, Henry says, "But marriage to a complete stranger never made anyone in this room very happy." Then, King Francis demands, "You will marry Gabriella by the next full moon." The problem is Princess Gabriella of Spain is named Princess Gertrude in the credits. (00:34:05 - 01:57:15)

Ever After (1998)

Trivia: After Rodmilla and her daughters leave for the masque, during the next scene at the royal palace a large sculpture can be seen in the courtyard, especially in some closeups from different angles, such as when Gustave approaches Leonardo. This mythologically themed sculpture consists of a tailed figure riding upon one of two creatures holding their reins, with a ship behind them. This sculpture can be seen during the very first scene, albeit with a few changes. When Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm walk into the Grande Dame's chamber she is sitting up in an unusual type of bed. Note the bed's "headboard" and "footboard" are the ship hull (in the fullscreen version the bed's side is visible with its distinctive design), and we also see the creatures (minus their horns) with the rider's arm holding their reins at the foot of the bed. Something else to notice near the end, when Leonardo gifts the young couple the belated wedding present the room they're all in is not in the royal palace, they are in the manor, gathered in the dining room where Marguerite had burned Danielle's book Utopia.

Visible crew/equipment: The morning after the masque, after Danielle shouts, "I have done everything you have ever asked me to do, and still you've denied me the only thing I ever wanted," in the next shot facing Rodmilla as she walks forward, her white tape T-mark is visible on the grass behind her. (A bit of it was also visible when she first approached her mark.) (01:38:25)

Ever After (1998)

Continuity mistake: When Auguste is lying on the ground after falling from the horse, Rodmilla turns him over onto his back. In the two shots facing up towards Rodmilla and Danielle, Auguste's right arm is lying across his chest with Danielle holding his right hand, but in shots facing down towards Auguste, his right arm is outstretched on the ground, up near his head. Additionally, in the same shots Danielle goes back and forth from leaning her left hand on the ground at her side, to having her left hand in front of her, on her father's chest. (00:10:20)

Continuity mistake: When Marguerite threatens to toss 'Utopia' into the fireplace, she holds the book out to her left, where the fireplace and its roaring fire are located. When Danielle hands over the glass slippers, Marguerite moves her arm from her side and proceeds to forcefully throw the book down directly in front of her (between Marguerite and Danielle, who face each other). Odd though, how in the next close-up 'Utopia' is shown having been tossed straight into the fire to burn, as Danielle screams. (01:13:35)

Audio problem: When Danielle brings the salt to the dining table, the Baroness sprinkles a spoonful of salt over the single shelled hard-boiled egg in the bowl, with its removed cracked shell lying on the plate beneath. After the stepmother rebukes Danielle, we hear the distinct sound of her cracking the hard-boiled egg's shell with her spoon, just before she says, "Eggs are cold," even though the egg has no shell.
