Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: When Hector removes his helmet right after Achilles does (during their fight scene), you can see the nose bridge and flanks of his helmet move in an obvious rubbery way.

Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: In the middle of the film when Achilles has killed Hector, he falls to the ground, and if you look behind him when he's on the ground, the castle wall can be seen, therefore signifying that he fell at the wall, yet on all other shots he is quite some distance from the castle wall. (01:56:55)

The-Immortal

Correction: There is absolutely no continuity error regarding the proximity of the city's vast wall behind and to the sides of Hector.

Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: When Odysseus leads the Greeks up the stairs and are trying to break through the gate that Paris and other Trojans are waiting for them on the other side, you see Paris draw an arrow and fix it to his bow. However, when the Greeks finally do break through the gate, he is seen in a self-shot drawing another arrow and quickly firing it again.

Correction: In the first shot, Paris raises the bow and nocked arrow - we do not see him let loose (note the distance between him and the window behind). Next shot is a close-up of the Greeks streaming in. In the third shot, as the Greeks begin battling Trojans in the background, Paris heads for the stairs in the foreground where he draws and lets loose the arrow - also seen in the fourth shot close-up (note the closer distance to the window). Between the first and third shots Paris could very well have let loose that first nocked arrow and turned around. No continuity error here.

Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: Near the start when we see Achilles on his ship with his soldiers, the camera cuts to a soldier walking along the rowers, in this shot we don't see the main sail, yet when it cuts to him again coming up to Achilles the main sail is just behind him. We should have been able to see this in the previous shot from the soldiers feet. (00:34:35)

The-Immortal

Correction: When this shot opens the camera is way down low, just at the height of the starboard side rowers. The stern rigging at starboard are visible beside these men, when Eudorus' legs come into view, as he begins walking from the stern towards the bow. As the camera continues to follow Eudorus' legs, the base of the mast - which is farther up on deck, would be wholly impossible to see, because many other men's legs are on deck in front of Eudorus' legs, and because of the unusual angle of this shot. In the next overhead shot, Eudorus has already passed the mast and heads to Achilles at forward deck; and as a side note this does not grate with continuity, because it is unnecessary to see Eudorus walk the entire length of the deck on camera.

Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: After Patroclus gets slashed in the throat by Hector there is a shot of him falling to the ground, and in this shot Glaucus is holding his shield in front of him. Then in the very next shot, Glaucus starts cheering, and the shield is on his side.

Correction: When Patroclus falls backwards, in this wide shot Glaucus holds his sword with his right hand and his shield is held with his left, in front of the left side of his body as the camera pans down to Patroclus hitting the ground. In the next close-up, Glaucus still holds the shield in front of the left side of his body, as he raises his sword with his right hand, the only difference being a soldier's arm is now pressed against Glaucus' shield - which the soldier was able to do as the camera pans down focusing on Patroclus.

Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: When King Priam is stabbed by Agamemnon in the temple at the end of the movie, the blade goes into his stomach. Priam falls to the ground, looks up and sees Agamemnon. In this shot, there is blood on the robes of Priam near his left shoulder. How can his blood defy gravity by going up his chest, let alone in five seconds?

Correction: In the first shot, when Agamemnon spears Priam from the back, the tip protrudes from his chest above his belt, Priam falls face forward with the spear still in him and Agamemnon violently removes the spear (causing even more massive damage to the wound) then tosses it aside. At the start of the next shot Priam is face-down flat on the ground, so the blood does not have to "defy gravity" in order to be easily absorbed by the very thin material towards his shoulder, as it pours out of the severe back entry wound and when he turns over there is also blood spilling from his mouth reaching the front of his shoulder.

Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: As Patroclus lies with his throat cut, there is a sword near his head. Then in the shot right before Hector stabs him again, the sword is gone. No one touched it.

Correction: When Hector removes Patroclus' helmet in the close-up, the black hilted sword that Patroclus dropped is lying on the sand (it is ONLY visible on widescreen DVD in this shot) beside the left side of Patroclus' head (his left) and Hector's sword blade is near Patroclus' right arm (his right). Four shots later (after Hector tosses the helmet to the side) in Patroclus' next close-up, the black hilted sword is still there but Hector's is gone - though it's plausible that Hector grabs hold of his own sword offscreen when he tosses the helmet. Then four shots later at the start of Patroclus' third close-up, the black hilted sword is again still there, and Hector holds his own sword at the hilt as it rests near Patroclus' arm. Visible on widescreen DVD.

Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: When Paris confronts Aeneas at the secret tunnel all of the arrows in his quiver are white, when he gets to Glaucus they are all brown, and when he takes an arrow out to shoot Achilles they are all white.

Correction: When Paris speaks with Aeneas, the arrows' fletching is white, of which there are only a few in his quiver. Then there are a few shots of Odysseus and other Greeks, making their way to the palace doors. When Paris meets up with Glaucus, some time has gone by, so Paris had the time to place more arrows in his quiver and not all are brown, there are arrows with white fletching as well. By the time Paris reaches the courtyard to see Briseis and Achilles, even more time has gone by and he could have spent the arrows with brown fletching, leaving him with all white ones.

Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: When Achilles is first shown on his ship, after he decides to go to Troy, the ropes along the sails behind him are brown. But in every further shot of the ship, the ropes are white.

Correction: After Achilles speaks with his mother, Thetis, in the first close-up as he stands at the bow of his ship bound for Troy, the lines that are actually attached vertically to the front of the black sail behind him are the same as the rest of the shots. Due to the dark shadow and angle of the close-up looking up at Achilles, they only appear darker, than the next bright overhead wideshot of the ship. In later shots, when those particular lines are visible, such as when the Myrmidon jumps off the boat and lands on his back on the sand, those lines appear lighter cream color at the top of the sail, yet darker (just as the earlier shot) at the bottom, where the black sail is furled.

Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: Inside Troy, Achilles is not wearing his normal silver armor; he's wearing some kind of black armor. But then at his funeral, he's back in his normal silver armor.

Correction: Though the pyre scene is shown directly after the death of Achilles, considerable time has gone by and there are a number of things that happen in between off screen, that are unnecessary to show. When the Greeks find Achilles, he is first washed and prepared, then he is clothed - in his usual armour, before his body is burned on the pyre. Also note that it is dark and the city is aflame when Achilles dies, yet it is daybreak and the fires have ceased when Achilles is being burned on the pyre.

Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: Paris shoots Achilles in the heel, as this is his only vulnerable spot. Yet after Achilles dies and the camera rises above him, you can tell the arrow is more up his foot, near his ankle.

Correction: First of all, his legendary vulnerable heel is never mentioned in the film. Besides, when he walks with the arrow (in the wideshot) and when he collapses, the arrow is at an angle, with the point of entry (at the outer part of his leg) higher up near the ankle than the exit (at the inner part of his leg) which is lower by the heel. When the arrow first hits, in the wide shot the arrow tip nears his ankle and in the close-up it comes out closer to the sole of his shoe.

Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: When Achilles takes Hector's body past the walls of Troy, you can see all the dirt and filth all over him. When Achilles arrives back home, if you look closely, there is hardly any sand on the body at all. Then, when Achilles goes to prepare Hector's body for Priam by wrapping it in a blanket, the sand is all over Hector.

Correction: When the chariot drags Hector's body past Priam the dirt ground's dust flies up and around the body, followed by sand at the shore. Achilles then pulls the body beside his tent in a wide shot, there is no close-up on the face. Since Hector's body is very bloody all over, undoubtedly from turning over while being dragged (also causing the spear to snap), the light colored dust and sand would not be easily apparent in this wide shot. The red blood would have congealed with the dust and sand, however his dark clothes do appear dirty. Later, when Achilles prepares Hector's body, at no point is the body visible, only Hector's bloody sandy face.

Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: When Achilles is on the beach looking at his army charging at the Trojans, if you look over his shoulder you can see no ships on the sea, even though there were hundreds of them a moment ago.

Correction: When Achilles shouts, "Flank!..." behind his shoulder is the sand towards the walled city, with blue sky above, not water. Also, later in the extreme close-up of his face, in the shot just before the Greeks on the ships shout, "Achilles! Achilles!" the ships, though not in focus, are visible behind his shoulder. Every time the sea is shown beyond the shoreline, the many ships are visible in the distance.

Corrected entry: In the scene involving the first battle between Achilles' men and the Trojans, Achilles makes his way up the beach to Apollo's temple. He knocks a Trojan off a horse, and as the Trojan falls backwards you can see he's wearing patterned boxer shorts under his kilt.

Correction: Achilles kills Tecton, who rides a horse, with the long shot of the spear. It is Ajax, not Achilles who knocks three men off their horses. At no point are boxers visible on any one of these men, only their decorative Trojan skirts.

Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Achilles and Briseis wake up in the morning after spending their first romantic night together, there are a few shots of the sun just beginning to rise. The problem is that the sun is rising over the sea which is to the west of Troy. Since when does the sun rise in the west?

Correction: Refer to the map at the start of the film. Troy is located at the corner of what is basically a curved 90° right angle. Their walled city faces the sea to the west and to the north, though much closer to the northern shore with Apollo's temple. It is at these northern shores that the sun can be seen rising from an easterly direction over the Aegean Sea, which when facing the sea would be towards the right.
