Continuity mistake: At the Quidditch World Cup, when the kids reach the top, in the first shot facing them their positions are Cedric, Ron, Fred/George and Ginny. Just before the shot cuts, Ginny is just about to move behind a twin, and more to the point, three members of the Irish zoom by on their brooms between Ron and Cedric. In the next shot (from behind), as the Irish are still zooming by, now their positions are Fred/George, Ron and Ginny, with the Irish zooming by between Ron and Ginny. Between shots, Ginny has moved past three people and the zooming Irish on their brooms. Don't confuse the hat wearing twin for Ginny; her hat is green with a black buckle band and the twin's hat is green stripe. (Clearer on fullscreen DVD.)

Continuity mistake: During breakfast in the Great Hall, after Harry dribbles on himself, he and Ron are seated right beside one another and likewise their plates. When Nigel brings the box, all of a sudden there is a huge gap between them and a convenient open space on the table to place the box. (01:05:05)

Continuity mistake: In the Great Hall, after Hermione quips, "Well spotted!" Ron imitates his brother (when he asked Angelina to the Yule Ball) by lifting up his arms to mimic dancing, and Snape promptly smacks the back of Ron's head. In the next shot, Ron holds a pencil in his formerly empty right hand. (01:11:15)

Continuity mistake: In the Gryffindor common room, after Ron heads up to the dorm, Harry realizes Sirius has gone. In the close-up of the Daily Prophet, the unwrinkled headline "Teenage Tragedy" is displayed prominently as the newspaper burns up, whereas in the previous shot (before Harry's close-up) the "Teenage" part of the headline is unseen. Continuity mistake: In the dorm, after Ron moans, "Yeah, that's me, Harry Potter's stupid friend" as Harry leaves his bed and walks to Ron, there is a single rectangular window beside his bed and another window about a foot above it. Later, after the Yule Ball, in the exterior zoom-in shot the crow flies toward the side-by-side double window, arched at the top, as it heads for the window sill, and in the next interior shot, the crow lands on the sill as Harry sleeps beside that window. Continuity mistake: In the Great Hall, after Ron receives his "dress" and Harry says, "Well it does match your eyes. Is there a bonnet?" the toast caddy on the table in front of Harry moves farther down the table, between shots. (01:06:10)

Continuity mistake: In the maze, when Cedric says, "For a moment there I thought you were gonna let it get me," the tear on his shirt, at his right shoulder, is directly on the seam and quite frayed. At the cemetery, when Harry says, "Cedric, we have to get back to the cup. Now!" the tear is not on the seam, and it's smooth with blackened edges. Back in the maze, when Amos approaches his son's body, the tear differs yet again. The dirt on Cedric's shirt changes as well. (01:58:20 - 01:59:40)

Continuity mistake: When Harry and Cedric are transported to the cemetery, the Triwizard cup lands on the grassy slope, well beyond the Riddle monument, with its luminescent top facing away from the cauldron area. During Priori Incantatem, three shots after Voldemort exclaims, "He's mine!" the cup lies on the corner of the Riddle monument's stone base and it faces the opposite way. The cup is back up on the grassy area in the following shots. (01:19:00 - 01:28:40)

Continuity mistake: In the Great Hall, when Ron takes the dress robe out of the box, there is a plate beside Hermione which has two utensils on its left side and one utensil on its right. However, when Harry says, "It does match your eyes," and in another following shot, there is only one utensil on the plate's left side - the knife is now on the other side. (01:06:00)

Continuity mistake: In the Great Hall, when Harry dribbles on himself, the plate to Hermione's right (as she holds The Daily Prophet up) has food and utensils lying on it. However, in the following shots, there is only an empty plate with utensils set on both sides, beside Hermione. (01:05:00)

Continuity mistake: In the Triwizard champions' tent, Rita's photographer captures the moving photograph of Hermione and Harry hugging, and subsequently letting go of each other. Later, when Hermione reads from The Daily Prophet, just before Ron opens his package, in the close-up of the newspaper their hug, the release, and where they both stand are entirely different in the moving photograph. Continuity mistake: After being knocked off his broom by the Horntail, when Harry falls from the first window to the one below, tiles break off leaving a few askew. However, in some following shots the tiles are back and straight. (01:00:50)

Continuity mistake: When the Horntail is out for Harry's blood, in the overhead shot, as he hangs on the window frame his sleeve is pulled up showing his bare arm. However, in the next close-up as he still grips the frame, his sleeve is tucked tightly into his glove. (01:00:50)

Continuity mistake: When Harry is attacked by a multitude of Grindylows he sustains numerous injuries, particularly the one on his jaw and neck. The position and characteristics of that wound repeatedly change in the following shots.

Continuity mistake: After Frank places the kettle on the burner, when he steps in front of the sink in the wideshot, the window is behind the sink, in front of Frank. There are plants on the sill that reach the window handles. However, after Frank sees the mansion light and puts the teapot down, in the close-up of the window the center plant is gone and the left plant is different. (00:01:30)

Continuity mistake: When Frank Bryce places the silver water kettle on the flame, the round ceramic lid rests on the counter, beside the small ceramic teapot. However, in the next shot, as Frank steps toward the sink, the ceramic lid is actually on the small teapot. (00:01:20)

Continuity mistake: When Rita grabs Harry to interview him, in the next shot, as the Quick-Quotes Quill springs up, the paint can, brushes, etc are on the steps. Their positions change in the Quill's first close-up, as it writes in the notebook. (00:39:55)

Continuity mistake: When Harry is with Neville at the lake, Hermione, Ron and Ginny walk over. Then, as Hermione approaches Harry, her striped scarf noticeably changes position around her neck in consecutive shots.

Continuity mistake: In the cemetery, the gash on Harry's left cheek changes depending on camera angle, such as during Priori Incantatem when Cedric says, "Take my body back..." and then when Lily says, "Sweetheart, let go..." (02:04:30)

Continuity mistake: Dumbledore wears a thin silver strand, with dangling silver balls, tied round his beard throughout the film, and the position of this strand differs in consecutive shots, depending on the camera angle. For example, when Dumbledore stands beside the pensieve, whilst speaking with Snape, McGonagall and Moody.
