Other mistake: It was dark outside, so the car that hit Pete was difficult to see, but it did not have the damage that would be expected. It appears the front end - including headlights - did not suffer obvious or major damage. The right side doors appeared to be dented, but that side did not hit Pete. The front windshield looked shattered but intact and the roof did not look damaged. A 3,000lb sedan colliding with a 1,000lb or so horse that hit and went over the hood and roof would be crushed.
