Continuity mistake: Hastings has lost sight of the car he was pursuing, and stops at the crossroads. In the wide shot you can see his left hand holding the top of the windshield, but in the close-up he's using just his right hand.(00:40:40)
Other mistake: Spying on the Italian embassy from Japp's van, the building has 2 Italian flags of the period. But the rightmost one is mounted upside down, with the crown under the shield instead of the opposite.(00:23:05)
Character mistake: Bernie Cole "King of the clubs" greets Miss Lemon and tells her she'll find Elsa "Straight down the corridor, second on the left." So she opens the second door...on the right. And it's the correct one.(00:30:50)
Factual error: When the former Mrs. Daniels hops on her car followed by Hastings, between them you can see a speed bump, not a feature on roads in Britain (or anywhere) at the time.(00:36:55)
Factual error: The Austin used by Poirot and his company to go to the attempted murder scene and back is an Austin 18, which entered production in 1937, later than the event of this season/episode.(00:12:00)
Continuity mistake: Poirot knocks at the door of The Black Cat, next to a street worker and a pimp. Nobody is walking down the street in the wider shot, but in the close-up an elderly couple passes by.(00:22:55)
Continuity mistake: When Lord Yardly is offering wine to Poirot, in the aerial shot Hastings has both hands over the glass, but his hands are in a different position in the consecutive view.(00:20:20)
Continuity mistake: Japp watches the worker with the flags pass him by while he's leaning his arm on the window. His arm was not there in the shot of the vehicle from behind.(00:45:15)
Stupidity: How in the world did Miss Lemon spend 2 days (and nights!) in the office searching for the keys but without looking on the console right next to the door?(00:40:25)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the episode, Hastings flips the cutting, having the left palm on the back of it. Next shot, and he's holding it by a corner.(00:50:45)
Continuity mistake: When Japp shows the police ID to the road worker, he is holding it by the side in the close-up and by the bottom corner in the next shot.(00:45:05)
Continuity mistake: When Poirot does the handkiss on lady Yardly, she has her thumb up when she's viewed from the front, but down in the side view.(00:45:55)
Continuity mistake: When Mr. Vyse is beginning to talk about the new will, in the wide shot encompassing the whole table, the open folder is raised, as the left page is sitting on top of another object. In the close-up of the letter, the folder is perfectly level with the table.(00:34:45)
Factual error: Nick says that she made the will 6 months before the events of the episode, just before her appendix surgery. The surgery happened on February 27th, so it would be the end of August now. But at the beginning of the first episode Hastings was reading a (movie prop) copy of the Daily Express which had on the cover "Perry makes a new record - Champion two years in succession", complete with a picture where he is unmistakably with his rival Gottfried Von Cramm. The photo (and the mention of the 2 years record) is about the Wimbledon final who took place on 5 July 1935. That's almost 2 months earlier than it should be.(00:04:45)
Plot hole: The whole premise of the plot is that nobody is staying at End House but Nick (and the servants); she even says explicitly that there is just one room that is usable and everyone else stays at the Majestic. During the party though, Freddie tells Maggie to go get her coat which is "in my room." They are at End House, not the hotel, how would Maggie have a room there?(00:35:00)
Plot hole: The killer's plan needs to have Maggie at End House - but it's achieved through Poirot's proposal to have Nick call her to act as added protection. But this makes no sense; Maggie's presence would have not protected Nick in any of the alleged attempts to her life; the frame would have crushed her too, she would have died in the car, she couldn't have prevented the rock from falling, and Nick was shot while the most famous detective was with her, even! A random little girl from Yorkshire would have not mattered, so it makes no sense that Poirot endangered someone for no gain.
Plot hole: The hole in the hat was pre-existing and the bullet was fired in advance and dropped. Poirot notices immediately the hole when Nick puts the hat down but somehow missed it while she was wearing it as she supported him. He also does not notice that the bullet has not been fired at that time - which would have been still hot if just fired, not at all if dropped. Most importantly, in the spot where they were sitting, it's not even possible to think where a shooter could have ever been hidden; nobody wonders where the mysterious shooter could have been or cares to investigate the circumstance despite knowing the very moment the supposed shot happened. The fact is basically ignored throughout the rest of the episode.
Continuity mistake: Once Ghost Nick enters the room and Poirot turns on the lights, the Crofts stare at her, and you can see in frame the right arm of "Mne LeMon", sitting by Milly. Next shot though, Miss Lemon is standing on her feet.(00:40:10)
Continuity mistake: Commander Challenger in front of his boat laughs with Hastings "I hope my alibi is in order." As he says that, Hastings nods. During this close-up, his hat is casting a completely different shadow, covering his whole shoulder instead of just the back of the neck as in the rest of the scene.(01:03:35)
Character mistake: In the hotel lobby, Poirot, indignant of Hastings' attitude towards the murder case, says "After three attempts had been made at the life of M. Nick, Poirot gave his word he would protect her." But he did that after four attempts; Nick already avoided 3 "mysterious accidents" (painting, car, boulder) and Poirot witnessed the 4th, the bullet that pulled him into the whole case to begin with.(01:02:20)
