Plot hole: Breaking the spell should have been quite easy for Ella to accomplish. All she needed to do was have someone like Mandy or Areida command her to never follow another command again, and the spell would have been broken.

Plot hole: When Dr. Marvin is trying to get Bob to leave the night before his television interview, he can't leave because it's pouring rain. He also can't drive him because their car was left at the boat dock. However, Dr. Marvin could have easily called for a cab to drive Bob back to where he's staying.

Suggested correction: This assumes that there is a taxi service in the small town in which they reside.
This is obviously a tourist town, which would likely create the need for a taxi service.
It also seems to be a fairly secluded and very rich tourist town with cars almost necessary to get around.
Suggested correction: At that time of night in that condition, I highly doubt calling a taxi cab would be easy, especially since Bob lives right down the road, no taxi far away would come just to drive someone a short distance like that.

Other mistake: Taylor believes he is on a planet 300 light-years from earth for most of the movie. However, after spending months there, he would have seen the moon at night a number of times, letting him know where he really was before seeing the Statue of Liberty.

Suggested correction: Not necessarily; any astronaut knows that many, many planets have moons, so Taylor could have easily thought that it was simply an odd coincidence that the "other" planet's moon closely resembled Earth's moon.

Stupidity: Why is it that runners wait until their 30th birthday to run, when they'll most likely get caught? It would make more sense if runners tried to escape to sanctuary weeks or months before their last day. This way, they could meticulously plan their escape without drawing attention to themselves.

Suggested correction: That wouldn't be particularly advantageous for runners. The computer system monitoring the city knows when someone is running regardless of their age and will dispatch the Sandmen to eliminate them. People who choose to run only do it as a last ditch effort, believing they will die on Carousel anyway so running is a risk some are willing to take. In the meantime it would be preferable to live out their guaranteed lifespan and enjoy the pleasures afforded to them by living within the city.

Other mistake: When Kirk agrees to fight in the arena at the end of the episode, he and the thralls are warned that touching an opponent's color will result in the loss of a weapon. Kirk does this several times during the fight, but isn't penalized in any way.

Factual error: As Kirk, McKoy and Scottie age during the episode, their hair goes from brown to fully grey. Mr. Spock shows this to a lesser extent, but by the end of the episode, he has full streaks of grey. This isn't how grey hair works. It starts from the root and works it way outward over time to the end of the strand. Unless their hair is growing quite rapidly, and then cut to keep it short, they shouldn't have full heads of grey hair.

Factual error: In movies where people are fighting with bows and arrows, whenever someone gets hit by an arrow, they flinch in pain and die on the spot. In most cases, the arrow injury is insufficient to cause a person's immediate death. Or they may die from the arrow wound, but only after they bleed to death, which takes time.

Stupidity: Whenever a gun battle is taking place, and the protagonist is being shot at by a machine gun, multiple shots spit up near his/her feet, which makes no sense. They are aiming their weapons straight at the person, not at the ground.

Stupidity: Police officers or detectives pound on the door of a suspect, asking them to open the door. When they go into the house, they realise the suspect has escaped out the back door or window and have to give chase. Cops aren't this stupid. They surround the house first so the suspect can't get away.

Suggested correction: Perhaps not everyone is as good a writer as the ones you see in the films, but films are meant to bend reality anyway. Good writing is a virtue and wanting to make one's own film character a good writer is not a mistake.

Factual error: Whenever there's an officer involved shooting in television or movies, the officer in question always goes about their work as though nothing has happened. In real life, this is a big deal. It's blasted all over the news and the officer is always placed on administrative leave pending an investigation to make sure the shooting was justified.
