Trivia: Bill Skarsgård, who portrays Count Orlok, also famously portrayed the evil clown Pennywise in the two theatrical "It" movies. A rule he had for himself with those films was that he didn't want to frighten his co-stars or the crew, so he always went out of his way to be friendly and joke around with everyone between takes. He repeated that tradition here. Many crew members, including producer Chris Columbus, were initially terrified of him in his costume... until he started cracking jokes.

Trivia: To make Count Orlok more imposing, the already 6'4" tall Bill Skarsgård wore heeled shoes that made him nearly 7', and worked with a vocal coach who helped him train to lower his voice a full octave.

Trivia: Harry Styles and Anya Taylor-Joy were originally cast to star in the film in 2017, but both had to bow out because production was pushed back considerably and scheduling conflicts arose.
