Mr. Monk and the Secret Santa - S4-E9

Continuity mistake: When Alice is in Stottlemeyer's office and Stottlemeyer can't find Terry's present, Alice says, "But what about..." indicates the bottle of port, and then drops her arms to her sides. In the next shot (when we see Alice from the back), we can tell by the position of her elbows that her hands are not at her sides, but in front of her.

V for Vendetta (2005)

Question: What exactly are V's (for lack of a better word) "superpowers"? Also, can V see?

Blibbetyblip

Chosen answer: Yes, V can see. As a result of the experiments performed upon him, V has increased strength, stamina, reflexes and speed. All of these could be considered to be at least at the maximum possible level for a human and possibly slightly in excess of that. His mental capacity has also been enhanced to genius level or above.

General questions

This is for the title of a film I saw in 2000. It is about a boy who goes to stay with some people and finds a huge garden out the back of their house. When he asks the people he's staying with about the garden they say that they don't have a garden, only a courtyard with some rubbish bins. There is a gardener who says "bloody hell" a lot. At one point the boy is hiding behind a door from someone. The film is probably English, cannot quite remember. Sorry about the vagueness, but could someone please identify this film.

Blibbetyblip

Chosen answer: This could be Tom's Midnight Garden. I don't know the film but the children's book is by Phillipa Pearce.

Monk (2002)

Mr. Monk Goes Back to School - S2-E1

Continuity mistake: When Monk is leaving Derek Philby's classroom, he is quite content to just pick up a piece of chalk (with his bare hands) to write on the blackboard, but earlier, he makes sure to use a chalk holder to do this and nearly has a panic attack when he gets chalk dust on himself.

Monk (2002)

Chosen answer: As with most "he-said she-said" situations, we might never know. USA Network spokesman said the show was already planning on going a different direction with some characters. That said, Schram was trying to renegotiate her contract terms, but USA Network did not give in. For more of the story; here's an older news story http://www.today.com/id/5875714.

V for Vendetta (2005)

Question: Delia Surridge tells V that she didn't know what the virus was going to do. How could she not have known? She created the virus and was administering it to people and seeing what it did.

Blibbetyblip

Chosen answer: She states outright that she was aware she was developing a biological weapon, she just didn't know whom they were going to use it against.

V for Vendetta (2005)

Chosen answer: He has a natural immunity to it.

Phixius

Answer: He was tested on but not with a virus. They achieved what they intended and that was to crate a blank slate super soldier! To quote the movie "the subject remembered nothing of who he was". But he remembered the torture that got him there and had the biography to inspire his hatred. The virus was created from Vs blood because of his reactions to the virus.

Chosen answer: Instead of passing on they would cease to exist.

Question: When Legolas says "Aragorn, something's out there!" Why does he speak in Elvish? Gimli cannot speak Elvish and there is no reason for Legolas to not want Gimli to hear what he is saying.

Blibbetyblip

Chosen answer: Legolas was speaking in Elvish so that the whoever or whatever was out there would not understand. It is more likely "it" would understand if Legolas were to speak in english and therefore make their surprise counter-attack void.

Question: I have heard many times that there is an accidental car in this movie. I have watched the scene where this reportedly occurs many many times and I still cannot see the car. I have seen the smoke/dust rising in the background which is reportedly dust being kicked up by the car but i cannot see the car itself. I have the Extended VHS version of the movie- is the car more visible in different versions? Please tell me anything you can that will make this car more visible to me.

Blibbetyblip

Chosen answer: The car was erased digitally before VHS tapes or DVDs were made, so it is not visible in the film itself, in any version. However, on the DVD, in the Music Documentary feature, the car is still visible.

Mary Poppins (1964)

Chosen answer: Because he's a talented actor who can play a broad range of characters. It's not that unusual for an actor to play more than one part in a movie: Edie Murphy played practically his entire family in the two "Nutty Professor" films. There's also a tradition in versions of Peter Pan that the same actor plays the children's father and also Captain Hook.

raywest

Chosen answer: Helm Hammerhand was the ninth King of Rohan who used the caves and their accompanying fortifications (built many centuries earlier by the Gondorians) as refuge during a war against the Dunlendings. The caves, and the valley leading to them, were named Helm's Deep as a tribute.
