Suggested correction: It's never wall-to-wall carpeting. It's always a rug, and the Captain even calls it a rug. In the shot of the vacuum and the Captain's feet, you can see the hardwood floor behind him.

Bishop73

Earlier there was no rug at all. They were fighting about the coffee table and you could hear the scrapping noise of the coffee table on the bare floor.

Suggested correction: After he wrote his name, he says "what's up with that k?" and erases it. He started to re-write the k when he got hit by the eraser, leaving it unfinished.

Mr. Monk and the Red-Headed Stranger - S1-E12

Plot hole: When Monk explains to Miss. Mass how she had murdered Sonny, a flashback of the crime shows that she isn't wearing gloves when she leaves the note to get him to go to the alley. Had the cops checked the note for prints, they would have shown Miss. Mass' fingerprints on it and knew she was responsible for Sonny's death.

Suggested correction: Just because they lifted fingerprints off the note, there wouldn't be a way to identify them as belonging to Ms. Maas if her prints aren't in the system. As a witness (and ruled out as a suspect because they thought she was blind), they wouldn't have fingerprinted her just because the found unknown prints and wanted to rule her out.

What about gun residue on the hands?

Mr. Monk Takes a Vacation - S1-E10

Corrected entry: When Monk is being heckled by the hotel comedian, he admits to bringing his own towels and blankets to the hotel; however in an earlier scene we see Monk reeling in horror as he examines all the bodily fluids with an infra red light. The blanket on his bed was not his own but a "dirty" hotel one.

Correction: Just because Monk brings his own towels and blankets to the hotel, it does not mean the room did not have hotel towels and blankets already in the room. Monk was looking at the hotel's blanket, not his own.

Mark English

This seems like a correction without watching the scene. Monk didn't use the IR light before sleeping in the bed. He was already a guest at the hotel and brought his own sheets. Monk didn't bring his own sheets and towels just in case the hotel didn't have any, he brought them to use and wouldn't have the hotel's blanket on his bed.

Correction: There are prisons that house both men and women. For example, Folsom State Prison in California currently hoses both male and female.

Bishop73

Well then they should have Saturday night dances. It'd hopefully discourage escapes by giving them interaction, conjugal visits, should they have nobody on the outside.

Mr. Monk Makes A Friend - S5-E11

Continuity mistake: Monk leaves his front door standing open in anticipation of his new friend's arrival. No one goes near the front hall, but when Hal gets there, he lets himself in by opening a door that has somehow closed itself. (00:10:30 - 00:11:50)

Suggested correction: That wasn't the front door that was open. It was the door to the bathroom that is open, which is on the other end of the hallway.

Bishop73

No. It's the front door.

Jean G

The door that's open is the bathroom. You can see the sink and a towel hanging up.

Correction: While it's the same actor, he's playing a different character. In this episode he's Detective Burns, not Terry Chasen.

Mr. Monk and the Panic Room - S3-E2

Corrected entry: After Monk has accidentally pushed the close button on the panic room door, Captain Stottlemeyer tries to guide Monk to pushing the open button on the wall. After a couple of minutes the captain puts his hand through the hole to open the door. The scene doesn't make sense, however. Stottlemeyer makes no attempt through the whole scene to try and open the door up for Monk, who is having trouble with the locked room. He can see the buttons and would easily be able to see he could reach it or at least try to reach it.

Lummie

Correction: The Captain simply doesn't want to do everything for Monk and wants Monk to do it himself. He finally just gives up on Monk. But that's not out of character for the Captain.

Monk (2002)

Correction: She even goes the "extra mile" and commits the murder in another county making sure it is outside our Stottlemeyer's and i.e. Monk's jurisdiction.

Yes but knowing Monk she should never had tried to seduce him and she made the captain suspicious by claiming Monk tried to blackmail her for sex.

Correction: Characters doing stupid things isn't what qualifies as a stupidity. Why would anyone kill anyone knowing there's a chance they could get caught? Linda's personal motives for killing outweigh the fear of being caught.
