Multiple times on this site I have seen mistake corrections saying that the mistake is not valid because the two movies of the same series are not consistent (e.g. Harry Potter 2 and 3). Why are they not consistent- is it because they have different directors?

There was, a few years ago, a cartoon on Cartoon Network about a black teenager who I think was called Virgil, and he and some people were exposed to some sort of chemical or radiation. After, the main character had magnetic powers and could float on a trash can lid. Does anyone know what this was called?

Does anyone know why story lines on daytime soap operas drag on for months? You can watch 2 weeks of episodes, yet it will still be the same day on the soap.

I'm trying to find the title of a movie I saw a few years ago. In the movie, a popular author wrecks his car outside of a small town. He is finally found by this lady, who takes him to her home to take care of him. It unfolds that the lady has actually read his books and wants him to write a new one the way she wants it to be written (plot wise). She tortures him and stuff until he will write the new book. Thanks.
Answer: "Misery" Starring Kathy Bates and James Caan.

I remember seeing a trailer for a film involving a woman with one breast in the middle of her chest. It seemed like a comedic film. Any ideas?
Chosen answer: This is "Kung Pow: Enter the Fist."

Ive seen a film years ago and want to know the name it. All I can remember is that there was a group of kids that made a machine that can make a bubble surround you and lift you into the air. They make craft from old fairground parts and make the bubble surround it and fly into space. They meet a group of aliens and one resembles a banana (i think). Any idea or am I just a freak?

My boyfriend wants to see this movie again, but can't remember the title. A group of people, traveling on a bus, find out they are all dead. Apparently each has a loose end s/he needs to tie up before heading to the hereafter. Thanks.
Answer: That would be "Heart and Souls" starring Charles Grodin, Alfre Woodard, Kyra Sedgwick, Tom Sizemore, and David Paymer as the people "on the bus," and Robert Downey Jr. as their "corporeal being."

If an actor does not want to smoke a real cigarette in a film, is there an alternative on offer (a prop cigarette for eg), or would it be more likely that that particular part would just be recast with someone who had no problem smoking?
Answer: There are non-tobacco cigarettes available for this. They contain an herb that has no nicotine or any other chemical/toxin which may affect the lungs or state of mind. They are, however, purported to smell and taste quite terrible. These are what Eva Amurri smoked in the movie "Saved!".

I watched a film on TV when I was a kid and I can't remember the name of it. It was about an adopted boy who discovered that his birth parents had been mermaids, and as he hit puberty he began to turn into a mermaid himself. All I remember is that he started to be thirsty all the time and whenever he went in water he began to grow scales, which was a problem since he was on the school swimming team. I think there was a scene when he dived into the sea to catch up with a ferry which was pulling away, and another when he was about to start a swimming race but realised he still had his trainers on. Anyone know the name of this film? Thanks.

I've noticed this in almost every cartoon I've seen, but recently I've noticed it in a lot of films too. whenever a character/actor is reading a book, they're always turning the pages the wrong way (as if they're reading the book backwards). This would go against the actors (and animators) basic reactions to reading a book, so why does it appear so often? Is it a sort of in-joke like the Wilhelm scream?

Chosen answer: More or less, yes. Different directors have had different visions for the films, and if a filmmaker intentionally makes changes in order to fit his ideas better, it's a bit harsh to class a difference as a "mistake", even a deliberate one.
