Corrected entry: When Jacob is first introduced to August, he says there is a vacancy for somebody to carry water for the elephants. At this time in the film the Benzini Bros. circus didn't own any elephants, until they bought Rosie later on.

Corrected entry: At the beginning, when King Hyperion is at the altar talking to the priest, he says 'Christ.' The year is 1228 B.C. (00:06:05)
Correction: The word "christ" or, in the original ancient Greek, kristos, was a title meaning anointed one, not a name. Prior to Jesus Christ, the word could apply to anyone considered anointed.
Correction: This point is addressed in the movie, immediately after it is made, by one of the other characters. It turns out August was being sarcastic at the moment.
