Continuity mistake: After Captain Willard grabs him the sergeant says, "Would you guys like some seats". If you look at the sergeant's desk one of the two flashlights has fallen and the pencils in the pencil holder are rearranged without anyone going near them. (01:05:45)

Continuity mistake: They dock the boat on the side of the river and as Lieutenant Kilgore flies over looking for his surfboard we see a long rope running from the front of the boat to a tree. It's in some shots but not in others. (00:53:45)

Continuity mistake: As Chef shows Chief Phillips and Clean the picture in his Playboy magazine of Miss December you can see the USO stage behind them. In the previous shot of the boat leaving one of the six tall lipstick statues on the upper left of the grandstand was knocked down. Now as the boat departs all six statues are standing. (01:11:50)

Continuity mistake: At the Playboy bunnies camp Captain Willard jumps off the boat with his rifle in his left hand. In the next shot as he turns around it's in his right. (01:23:30)

Continuity mistake: At the beach party Lieutenant Colonel Kilgore says, "bring me my Yater Spoon the eight-six". Later when Captain Willard steals this surfboard from his helicopter it's not a Yater Spoon, which has a distinctive flat tail and can be seen at www.yater.com. (00:51:25)

Continuity mistake: As the soldiers crash the stage, Playmate Carrie Foster signs one of her pictures on a soldier's back as he leans over. In the next shot she signs it again. (01:09:40)

Continuity mistake: Clean tunes in his transistor radio to AMVN and we hear it continuously playing in the background as Captain Willard goes from standing with his shirt on looking at Chief Phillips as he pilots the boat, to sitting shirtless looking at pictures of Colonel Kurtz between shots. Continuity mistake: As Clean tries to get some fuel the sergeant says, "Eight bucks for that camera" and Captain Willard grabs him by the throat and pulls him over the desk. At first the Captain has a cigarette in his mouth than in the next shot he doesn't. (01:05:00)

Continuity mistake: When Lazaro's boat initially approaches, the guy on the front has a flare in both hands that he's just about to ignite. When they cut to the next shot he doesn't have anything in his hands. (01:16:15)

Continuity mistake: As Satisfaction plays in the background, Lance is holding on to a white tow cord as he skis. Earlier as they pull out of Hau Phat we see him holding a blue tow cord before he unwraps his new water skis. Thirty seconds later in another shot he is holding the blue tow cord. (01:15:05)

Continuity mistake: Captain Willard steals Colonel Kilgore's surfboard from the men sitting in the colonel's helicopter. The helicopter has changed since the colonel and his surfboard flew in on it earlier in this scene. The words "Death From Above" and the two crossed sabers that were painted on the front of the helicopter are not on the front of this one. (00:51:20)

Continuity mistake: The day after the USO show at Hau Phat, the boat leaves and there are five men working on the stage. In the next shot there are three. (01:11:35)

Continuity mistake: On the boat they offer a joint to Captain Willard who approaches them clean-shaven and dry. He wants nothing to do with them and goes back to his work but in the next shot he's dripping wet and needs a shave. (00:52:30)

Continuity mistake: As Bill Graham announces playmate of the year Carrie Foster she's still inside the helicopter. Two seconds later in the next shot she's in front of the helicopter standing on the platform that the Green Berets use to carry her into the middle of the stage. (01:07:15)

Continuity mistake: As Colonel Kilgore flies over looking for his surfboard the boat is docked with it's bow towards the shore in some shots and it's stern towards the shore in others. (00:54:10)

Continuity mistake: As "Satisfaction" plays in the background Clean dances behind Chief Phillips as he controls the boat. In the next long shot of Lance water skiing past the Vietnamese on the shoreline Clean is not there. (01:14:45)

Continuity mistake: Chief Phillips gives the helm of the boat over to Chef as Clean continues with his story. Lance takes the plastic covering off of the top water-ski then in the next shot it's covered again then uncovered in the shot after that. (01:12:50)

Continuity mistake: In the boat Captain Willard reads more about Colonel Kurtz' and fingers through his three Green Beret applications. Right after the captain says, "But when he threatened to resign, they gave it to him," he stops on a prop sheet that had the real names and dates erased and new names and dates typed in using a different typewriter that has darker numbers and letters. Continuity mistake: As Chef and Captain Willard walk through the jungle we get a couple of good close-ups of the band-aid on his cheek and it's different between shots. In the close-up when he first hears the tiger, the right side of the band-aid is pointing towards the top of his ear lobe. Then just seconds before the tiger attacks we see it pointing directly into the middle of his ear. (00:57:50 - 00:58:45)

Continuity mistake: After the tiger attack Chief Phillips asks, "What happened, how many is it?" and Clean is firing the 60-caliber gun behind him at the shoreline. Smoke pours out of the gun as he fires but in the next shot the smoke is not there and the gun has not been fired. (00:59:30)
