General questions
This particular movie is from the 80's or 90's that begins with some guy telling a story about a picture on the wall that has a car (possibly yellow-ish in color) parked next to a lake that has a small dock anchored off-shore. In the story/movie, about 5 teens go out to the lake to swim. While they're swimming/laying on the dock, a tar-like blob in the water slowly kills all of them. Anyone know the title of this movie?
Answer: This is one of the segments from the movie "Creepshow 2." It is based on the Stephen King short story "The Raft."

General questions
I remember watching a movie when I was younger, and was wondering what it was called. It was about an American female baseball (I believe) team, and I think they may have been the first such team. I remember they travelled America in a bus, and at one point one of the women received a letter telling her her husband had died in a war. Also one of them, or one of the people they travelled with had a son, and many years later there was a display at a museum or stadium about them and the boy was there, but grown up and they fussed over him.
Answer: Sounds like "A League of Their Own" with Tom Hanks and Geena Davis.

Question: In the final scene of the film Richard Gere and Diane Lane have their SUV stopped at a traffic light, and I've noticed that there's a police station directly to their right. This could have very well been a coincidence, but maybe it's not? Does anyone know if it signifies anything pertaining to the plot, for example, the dilemma of Richard Gere turning himself in vs. their decision to flee the country?
Answer: That's exactly what it is meant to portray. If I remember correctly, the SUV's left turn signal is on as well, which only reinforces that idea that they have a choice to make. Right, turn himself in, left, flee the country.
Nope, just watched it and there is no left turn signal.
Answer: The light stays green for a while, but the car never moves. Then it turns red. To me, that suggests that Edward realises he has to stop the insane world of commandment-breaking that he and Connie are living in. One of my favorite movie endings.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
Question: What is meant by Crouch Jr's line "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" and Dumbledore's sudden lurch to reveal Harry's scar (The scar that Wormtail makes, not his thunderbolt one)?
Chosen answer: Crouch, Jr. is referring to the fact that both he and Harry now have marks on their arms given in service to Voldemort. At this point Dumbledore doesn't realize that Harry has been cut and had his blood removed to bring Voldemort back. Given his immense knowledge however, Dumbledore is probably aware of the spells that can be used to bring someone back. When Crouch, Jr. says this (referring to his own Dark Mark), it triggers the recognition of what might have happened to Harry and Dumbledore rushes to confirm Harry's forearm scar for himself.

Question: Donald Sutherland was in the Buffy movie, and Kristine Sutherland is in the TV series as Joyce. Was it intentional or just coincidence that two Sutherlands are involved in the Buffy world?
Answer: They are not related so put this down to just coincidence. Although Kristine Sutherland (real name Kristine Young) had a cat named Donald, after Donald Sutherland, and chose the stage name Sutherland after her cat, so there's a tenuous connection.

Question: At one point the dentist mentions that he's going to "see a man about a wallaby". I get the feeling that this is a reference to something. Is it?
Answer: This is actually an homage to Crocodile Dundee, where the character (who is Australian) says the same phrase but has to explain it to his American friend.
Answer: It's a reference to going to use the bathroom. The American equivalent is "going to see a man about a horse/dog" (depending on which part of the country you are from).

Night Court (1984)
Question: In one of the episodes, it's discovered that Dan's name isn't really Dan Fielding. What is his real name?
Answer: Reinhold. As soon as this name is revealed (during the episode with all the pregnant women giving birth) all of the cast repeat the name incredulously. This is a tribute to Reinhold Weege, the creator of Night Court.
It should be noted that Dan's real name isn't revealed to the others until s05e12, "Dan, the Walking Time Bomb." In the episode with the pregnant women (s03e22), only the audience knows that Benet named her baby after Dan's real name. When Ernie reveals Dan's real name, the group reacts in the same way, saying "Reinhold" in unison.

I am trying to remember the name of a TV show that was on in the mid 80's. It dealt with day-to-day life on a US Army post. It was set in the present day (present day for when it was on-the mid 80's), NOT Vietnam. I think the word "Honor" was part of the title, but I am not sure. Anyone?
Chosen answer: Are you thinking of "Major Dad?" It was late 80s and set on a Marine Corps base. Alternatively For Love and Honor from 1983. A soap opera drama about life on a military base which ran for a half a season.

I remember watching a cartoon series on British TV on Saturday mornings when I was a kid (about 15-20 years ago), and I have forgotten its title. The only thing I remember is that it focused on four or five kids who drove giant mechanized lions to defeat whatever evil they were fighting, and when things got too rough, the lions would transform into various parts of a gigantic android warrior. They all lived in this castle-like building, and to get to their respective lions they used transportation tubes a la "Futurama". I also have a vague recollection that their leader was an astronaut from Earth who had arrived on their world through a wormhole, but I'm not sure if I'm confusing this with another cartoon. Anyway, does anyone know the title of this series I'm talking about?
Chosen answer: You're thinking of Voltron. There were a couple of different versions of Voltron. One was a large group of vehicles that combined to make the giant warrior Voltron. the other was the one you are thinking of, in which five lions combined to form the warrior. Go to http://www.voltronforce.com/ for lots more info on both shows.

Question: In the movie, the symbol of a pyramid with an eye in the top of it (found on American currency, if I understood correctly) is credited as belonging to the Free Masons, but doesn't it actually belong to the Illuminati? Or are the Free Masons and the Illuminati perhaps the same?
Answer: The are not the same but rumors and conspiracy theories have the Masons and the Illuminati intertwined for hundreds of years. That is why there are numerous symbols thought to belong to one or both.

Chosen answer: Dan Akroyd plays the official who escorts Jones, Willie, and Short Round to the Lao Che's plane after the car chase near the start. He has a few lines but his voice is somewhat different and that makes him a little harder to recognize.
