Continuity mistake: Peppy Miller is speaking with George Valentin on a stairwell as other people are walking up and down the stairs. At one point, a long shot shows a man in a black suit going up the stairs and passing George. In the following close-up of Peppy, the man has disappeared. Instead, two other men in light-colored suits are going up the stairs.
Continuity mistake: When Peppy Miller is stepping ahead in the casting scene, she puts down her things on the floor. In the next shot, when she starts dancing, her things disappear. After dancing, her stuff reappears on the floor, where she picks it up.
Trivia: This was the first Academy Award Best Picture winner produced by a non-speaking English country.
Trivia: Jean Dujardin won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as George Valentin, making him the first French actor to win the Award.
George Valentin: With pleasure.
Doris: I'm unhappy.
George Valentin: So are millions of us.
