Factual error: During most of the basketball games, you can see an American flag in the background. This is not the problem, the problem is that it is hung wrong, the stars should always be on the top LEFT not RIGHT.
Hoosiers (1986)
Directed by: David Anspaugh
Starring: Gene Hackman, Dennis Hopper, Barbara Hershey, Sheb Wooley
Factual error: As the team begins the Indiana state tourney (always held in March) the team bus is shown driving by fields of corn. No corn in Indiana at this time of year. The crop is harvested before the season starts.
Continuity mistake: After the two boys leave the team at the beginning of the film, Gene Hackman has the boys doing a passing drill with six guys. The problem is that there were only five guys on the team. It even shows a seventh player on the sidelines.
Trivia: Near the end of the film in the locker room prior to the championship game, Coach Dale makes reference to the players on the other team whose names are written on a chalkboard. If you look closely at the list of names, you'll see that they are the last names of the actors that portray the Hickory players (Poole, Schenk, Boyle, etc).
Coach Norman Dale: If you put your effort and concentration into playing to your potential, to be the best that you can be, I don't care what the scoreboard says at the end of the game, in my book we're gonna be winners.
Wilbur 'Shooter' Flatch: I know everything there is to know about the greatest game ever invented.
Merle Webb: Let's win this one for all the small schools that never had a chance to get here.
