Factual error: Norman Dale driving west to Indiana in 1951 on an interstate highway. The Interstate system wasn't started until 1956.

Suggested correction: That was not an interstate highway.

Correct. This was US 40, which runs the entire width of Indiana.

Factual error: During most of the basketball games, you can see an American flag in the background. This is not the problem, the problem is that it is hung wrong, the stars should always be on the top LEFT not RIGHT.

Trivia: Near the end of the film in the locker room prior to the championship game, Coach Dale makes reference to the players on the other team whose names are written on a chalkboard. If you look closely at the list of names, you'll see that they are the last names of the actors that portray the Hickory players (Poole, Schenk, Boyle, etc).
