Continuity mistake: In the scene where Jonathan finds Cooper in the bathroom possessed, Cooper attacks John with a knife in his left hand. As Cooper lunges at him, John slams the door, but Cooper's left hand crashes through with little problem. But, there's no knife. The knife is now in Cooper's right hand. (01:05:42)
Shocker (1989)
Directed by: Wes Craven
Starring: Peter Berg, Michael Murphy, Heather Langenkamp, Mitch Pileggi, John Tesh, Sam Scarber
Genres: Horror
Visible crew/equipment: In the opening scene where Johnathon is playing football, he's running with the ball right before he is tackled. You can see the camera crew's shadows on the grass running with him.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Rhino pulls Johnathan from the blue police car, he completely smashes the back window to get him out. When John's father/Pinker backs the car out to chase Johnathan, the window is intact.
Trivia: Wes Craven originally intended for "Shocker" to become a franchise, with Horace Pinker becoming the next big slasher-star. However, the studio wasn't happy with the film's mediocre box office returns, and a sequel was never made.
Trivia: Reportedly, late in post-production, the lead effects artist had a mental breakdown because he realised he had bitten off more than he could chew and couldn't deliver the effects on time. Director Wes Craven had to rush to locate all the negatives (which were scattered all over LA) and hire more effects artists to try and get the effects done as quickly as possible. Craven has said this is why some of the effects shots are "pretty sketchy" - there was no time to properly finish them.
Horace Pinker: This BarcaLounger's gonna kick your ass, boy.
Jonathan Parker: We can't go killing people just to get Pinker out of their bodies.
Lt. Don Parker: It smells like the goddamn electric chair in here.
