Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film, when Johnny is first climbing the stairway to his apartment, he climbs a flight, then there is a dissolve to imply that it's a very long stairway, and he's shown climbing another flight. You can see the ground floor only one flight below after the dissolve.
Johnny Dangerously (1984)
Directed by: Amy Heckerling
Starring: Michael Keaton, Maureen Stapleton, Marilu Henner, Joe Piscopo
Continuity mistake: When Johnny comes into the theater and sees the gun, the screen has a horizontal tear in it. But shots from behind the screen just have a vertical cut. And it's not like the gun was blocking the view since Danny pulled the gun out of the slit and there's no horizontal tear.
Continuity mistake: When Johnny gets knocked out when trying to leave the crime commissioners office, his arms are down by his side while on the ground. In the next shot of him lying on the ground, his arms are straight out from his side.
Trivia: In the scene at the newsstand following the death of Danny DeVito's character, the photo used for the papers is of Louie De Palma; the character that Danny DeVito played on the TV series, Taxi.
Trivia: When DA Burr is killed, the newspaper says he died in a commercial. The previous scene is a parody of Schlitz malt liquor commercials where a bull crashes through and the camera shakes. The clip of the bull used is from the commercial where they're dressed as Robin Hood characters.
Danny Vermin: I enjoy collecting protection money, putting whores to work, loan-sharking. I enjoy planting bombs in people's cars. These are a few of my favorite things.
Johnny Dangerously: You know, Danny, I think you get too much sugar in your diet.
Danny Vermin: You shouldn't hang me on a hook, Johnny. My father hung me on a hook once. Once.
Johnny Dangerously: Hey Pope, why don't you go build yourself a new gym at the Vatican.
