Factual error: The shop owner shows him a tape of the Joshua Tree by U2 and says it is the best concert he has seen, but the Joshua Tree wasn't released until 1987.
I Can Only Imagine (2018)
Directed by: Andrew Erwin, Jon Erwin
Starring: Dennis Quaid, Trace Adkins, Madeline Carroll, J. Michael Finley
Continuity mistake: When Bart's dad asks how he got such a beautiful girl, he looks at Bart. The shot cuts to behind him and suddenly he's looking at Shannon again.
Factual error: In the scenes set in 1985, young Bart is using a set of Sony headphones that were not available until 1991.
Trivia: Dennis Quaid's twin children are seen as extras in the dinner scene. His daughter is the little girl who points at him as he falls out of his chair during his medical attack.
Trivia: Dennis Quaid is shown to have been a football quarterback in his high school years. The picture of him shown in his trophy case as he's throwing away and burning his memorabilia is a picture of Dennis Quaid in the movie Any Given Sunday from 1999 where he played a quarterback, even sporting the #19 in the image.
Brickell: Let me ask you something Bart, what are you running from?
Bart: My dad. He, uh, he...
Brickell: He beat you, didn't he? Ya ain't got no poker face kid.
Bart: I carry that. I have to live with that, you know. I always will.
Brickell: Then write about it. Stop running from it. Let that pain become your inspiration.
Brickell: What is the name of your band again?
Bart: It is "Mercy Me." Because when I told my Memaw that we were starting a band, she was like "Mercy me, get a real job!" And I was like: "Oh, Memaw." And the guys were like "Did she really say that?" and I was like "Yeah, we have to name the band mercy me." So we called it.
