Continuity mistake: When the guy with glasses (Paris) is chilling with his fan, there is some material stuck out between his right ear and his right shoulder. In the next shot when he retracts the fan, it's gone. (00:23:45)
Revealing mistake: Claudia Black's character "Shazza" drives the vehicle back to the ship as the eclipse starts to take place. There is a front shot of the vehicle as it is driven through the bone yard. In this shot it is obvious that it isn't Claudia Black driving the vehicle. (00:53:50)
Deliberate mistake: In Paris' death scene, he blows alcohol onto his torch that illuminates the creatures around him. However the area is still illuminated after the light from his torch has disappeared. (01:12:05)
Other mistake: At the beginning of the final fight between Johns and Riddick, you can hear actress Radha Mitchell's accent slip back to a Australian when she tell the group "leave the stuff, let's move...let's go". (01:17:30)
Revealing mistake: In the fight scene between Riddick and Johns, there is a wide shot of them both fighting over Johns' shotgun. In this shot it is apparent that it is not Vin Diesel in the shot but in fact a stunt double. (01:17:35)
Continuity mistake: After Johns dies and Riddick is talking to Fry you see in one shot that only the bottle that Fry is holding is lit up, yet in the very next shot you see that all three, Fry, Jack, and the Muslim kid's bottles are lit. (01:23:40)
Continuity mistake: When Riddick grabs Johns' gun and aims it at him, the folded stock alternates between being flush against the top of the gun when the camera is on Riddick, to being increasingly raised above it when the shot switches to Johns (particularly noticeable when Johns asks, "Do we have a deal?" and Riddick responds with, "F**k you!").
Deliberate mistake: In the scene right after they figure out that an eclipse would occur, everyone takes Shazza's drive to get back to the crash site. Right after the ride under the huge skeletons, you can see Shazza take a turn to her right but she was turning the wheel to her left.
Visible crew/equipment: When Paris introduces himself to Riddick after the bottle drops, you can see the film crew in Riddick's glasses when he drinks from the bottle.
Plot hole: How did Carolyn Fry get out of the cave in the canyon to confront Riddick at the Skiff? Riddick strained to roll the rock into the cave entrance, and he was a big, strong man from a position of good leverage. How did Carolyn and the other two push the rock out of the way so that Carolyn could get out? And, then, how did Carolyn mange to push the rock back into place? It was still there when she and Riddick came back from the Skiff to bring back the other two.
Character mistake: When Carolyn first addresses Imam, she quite obviously pronounces his name "ell-mom," as though the capital I in his title were a lower-case L. It should be pronounced "ee-mam". We distinctly hear Ali call out his name in this fashion after the ship crash lands on the planet.
Factual error: When the group is travelling through the canyon near the end of the film, they are burning liquor to light the way, yet there is a lot more light than would be given off from this small flame. And none of it is flickering as would happen with a naked flame.
Factual error: The rock samples are from "22 years ago this month," and the solar model predicts a solar eclipse every 22 years. But in order for the sample records to be kept, they must be marked relative to an interplanetary standard. For the orrery to have consistently accurate meaning, it must be set to local years - revolutions of the mystery planet around the sun. One timekeeping is used for records that must be transferrable to other planets and the other for daily use like time of day, but the two cannot be mixed. This makes much more sense than applying the standard cycle to local time - it would totally ignore local events like day, night, and eclipses, all of which are very important.
Continuity mistake: During John and Riddick's final scuffle, once John's regains his gun and is aiming it at the camera, the gun has a visible orange plug in the barrel. When he then turns around and aims the gun in a different direction (though still facing the camera), the barrel is no longer plugged up.
Continuity mistake: When Fry is sitting by the giant bones, Johns approaches her drinking from a bottle and offers her a drink. When she takes the bottle, it has the cap on.
Other mistake: When Fry is looking around for Riddick at the end, she's holding the blue bottle of bugs to light her way. The blue light on her face isn't from the bottle as she holds it, as she's circling around in some cases with the bottle completely behind her, yet her face is still lit up blue.
Continuity mistake: When Riddick powers up the ship the first time during the escape, he is seen with blood on his left ear. This blood was not there on any previous shots and promptly disappears in the next shot.
Answer: She had a jar of the light bugs that kept the creatures away.
