Continuity mistake: Just after the giraffe's head comes off, there is a shot looking in the rear view mirror of Alan's car and the trailer he was towing has disappeared, then returns in the next shot. (00:05:15)

Continuity mistake: In the bar in Tijuana, when Chow stabs the knife into the table, we see the erect knife aligned with a green bowl located behind it, as well as four beer bottles grouped close together to the right of the green bowl. Then, the camera changes into another wide shot showing the view from the opposite side of the table; where we see that the knife is no longer aligned with the green bowl, it has moved closer to Phil, and the four beer bottles have also moved to different positions. Continuity mistake: After his karaoke Chow puts his knife on the right side of Stu's neck, but for the rest of the movie we see the wound on the left side of it. (00:34:05 - 00:38:25)

Factual error: Chow is carrying around $21 million in gold bullion. A bar weighs 400 ounces. Gold prices at that time were around $1,200 per ounce, and he's got two bags, therefore he's supposedly carrying 8,750 troy ounces, or about 600lb/270kg, on each arm. (00:46:20)

Suggested correction: Chow was carrying half the gold and bars were easy to carry in bags weighing 250 lbs each bag and had the rest elsewhere.and together he had 5 bags total at end so 1250 lbs x 16 oz is 20,000.oz so 1250 bucks per oz. X 20,000 equals 25 million and chow had more strength due to all drugs in his system made him stronger and pain free.

Even if he only had 2/5 bags and the 5 bags total weighed 600lb / 270kg, that still means one bag would weigh about 108kg / 240lb, which is too much for an average person to carry one handed, drugged-up or not.

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Alan flirts with the store clerk, they share a lollipop. You can hear a "crunch" indicating that she chewed the lollipop. In the next shot, she takes the lollipop out of her mouth and it is still completely intact. (00:59:45)

Plot hole: Marshall isn't present in the flashback where Chow steals the gold from the black van. How did Marshall know that it was Chow who stole the gold?

Continuity mistake: The scene where Stu is in the pharmacy trying to get the prescription filled, he was wearing a blue shirt. When he got back in the car, his shirt is pink.

Suggested correction: The shirt is pink in the pharmacy, it just looks blue due to the light.

Continuity mistake: When the giraffe's head is cut off, it spins backwards through the air. When the head crashes in the family car's windshield, it lands right-side up, when it should have landed upside-down.

Alan: We can't be friends anymore. When we get together, bad things happen and people get hurt.
Mr. Chow: Yeah, but that's the point! It's funny!

Question: Isn't the plot inherently flawed? Chow was already in Las Vegas, so there's no real correlation between him and the main characters, so he would've stolen Marshall's gold, whether or not he met them right?

Answer: Not necessarily. Keep in mind, before that, Chow didn't have any prior relations to Marshall, but after they showed up, he did, when he kidnapped B. Doug, who works for Marshall. It would make sense that Marshall would then be angry at Chow, and prompt the latter to steal his gold.
